Quite mineral, nice tart, perhaps some would find it a bit lean. I enjoyed this , though I dont think its worth shelling out lots of money for. With carbonation I could see this being interesting.

An excellent example of Etna bianco. Splendid luminous liquid gold in the glass. Flavors have medium intensity: white peach and cedar peel as primary tones; beeswax and hints of bouquet garni complete the linear yet tantalising nose. The mouth is extremely vertical: bursting acidity in the entrance, keeping high in the mid palate, helped by medium body and medium alcol to soften that right amount to never become a nuisance and keeping the mouth refreshed. Sapidity notes and garden herbs …

I did not like this bottle at all. Very muted, low acid and almost reductive on the finish. Others enjoyed it much more than me as I suspected it may have been slightly off.

My first bottle. Similar to previous reviews. Holding up great and did well over a few nights in the fridge.

Direction from the mountains and the sea. Salts and volcanic matter - stuff of Etna. Acid and Minerals. Accents of gunpowder, burnt match, Granny Smith apple.

Blend of 90% Carricante and 10% Catarrato / Minella. The medium-high intensity nose is reductive with a mix of wet stone minerality, fresh lemon citrus, and nutty aromas. It's light-to-medium bodied with lovely lemon citrus, wet stone, and herbal flavours in a spicy profile on the palate, supported by fresh, lively acidity. Juicy, succulent, and crisp with lovely flavour replays joined by pear, stone fruit, and leesy mineral notes that linger on the long finish. Elegant, harmonious, and really nicely …

Nuttiness and salinity rule here. Definitely a fruit backward wine, though there is some citrus, white peach and melon on this. There's also some evidence of lees - a lot of autolytic yeast flavors as well as malo in the form of cheese rind. But this wine is all about the nuts. Nuts nuts nuts. It wears its age pretty well.

Very clean lemon in color. Nose is slightly floral, with salt, almond and lemon zest. The palate has tart yellow apple, lemon, lime, salt and grass. Palate is zippy. High acid.

Yummy as always. Starting to lose its flavor but still nice and dry.

A shade lighter in the glass than the ArPePe Valtellina. Red fruits and cool menthol notes on the nose. Oh, this is drinking great right now - sweet and sour red fruits, with a cranberry note in there, good persistence and nice acidity for lift. I clearly didn't buy enough of this.

From the wine list at Le Zie (NYC), second time with this wine, although to be honest we thought we were trying something new as we forgot the name from the last time we ordered. Consistent with last experience - this wine is very enjoyable and would definitely seek out to add as a daily drinker for summer. I really like the stoney minerality that comes through along with bright acidity and white stone fruit. Pairs exceptionally well with Italian …

From the wine list at Le Zie. Initially a bit too cold this became more expressive as it warmed up a bit to room temp. My first time with an Etna Bianca and I really liked this a lot reminded me most of Assyrtiko with the mouth watering acidity, salinity and minerals - like drinking a glass by the sea side. Delicious with tuna Tatar and Rigatoni Bolognese.

I was a little bit disappointed, colour likes like a PN, the taste reminds me as well as a PN, some smoke, underwood, licorice, the fruit is a bit missing, some red berries, good tannin structure, very good acidity, middle body, elegant, middle aftertaste

A brownish-ruby color. Busy nose of red fruit and vegetables. Taste is of low sugar jam with nice acid punch. Finish is very light tannin and lingers with juiciness. Very nice.

Chicago Italian Lovers round 10- Mt. Etna wines (Caro Mio, Chicago IL) : Nose: The nose is on the bigger and rich side with dark red fruits, dark red cherries, berries, and some spice tones. The nose is somewhat foursquare and it's lacking some depth. Taste: Medium bodied with medium acidity and supporting tannins. The attack is good, but it really thins out on the palate with dark red fruits, dark red cherries, berries, some spice notes, and a touch …

Much lighter in color than the Bonavita; ripe red fruits on the nose. More accessible on the palate than the Faro, again red fruit, a hint of menthol, more elegant as well. A tannic touch on the back end, but this wine seems more "together" at this time.

Very elegant but firmly mineral, with cherry, smoke, layers of clay-like earthiness, great acidic backbone and very long. With air an orange peel note comes forth. I love it! I'd love to try an older vintage of this wine to get a glimpse of what its potential might be.

I purchased 6 or 7 different Mt. Etna Rossos as part of my exploration of lesser known Italian varietals; this being Nerello Mascalese with Nerello Cappuccio. I am finding quite varied aromas and flavors of some interest, some unique to these wines, but also having some difficulty becoming fully immersed in the wine as I would with some of the more famous Italians. I have decided that these wines are definitely not for beginners or for casual sipping. I am …

Light center. Nose of dull strawberry and soil. Light, tangy, earthy red fruit with decent length. This would be a good ringer in a tasting of minor red Cote de Beaune wine like Ladoix or Santenay. It has that sort of style.

Cherry, musk, licorice and light smoked meat. Nice savoury and smoky palate that has some tannins but mostly the acidity drives it. Medium length.

Broad licorice, anise and dark berry flavors grounded by rocky terroir. A long, slightly tart finish with just a hint of green vegatation. Drunk over two days. Day one was much more rustic and rough. The wine softened over 24 hours and showed elegance on the second tasting. Still plenty of tannins suggesting a couple more years left before its over the hill (volcano?)

Neapolitan Pizza and Wine (Napoletana Pizzeria, Mountain View, California) : Medium dark garnet red color; nice tart cherry, tart red fruit, cranberry nose; tight tart currant, tart cranberry palate opens and puts on weight after an hour or so in the glass to a tasty chocolate, anise and herbs palate; medium-plus finish

Nose of cooked fruit, roast coffee, blackberry, that smells pretty ripe but has juicy acidity and firm tannic structure. With air dark sour cherry emerges, with some rusty minerals and earth. I liked this, especially with grilled steak and mushrooms. It definitely has the tannins and roasted flavors of the 2003 vintage, but there is a freshness to the fruit and some snap in the mouth that makes this work for me.
