Domaine Rossignol Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Petite Chapelle

Upon opening, was very sour and very light-bodied, almost felt diluted. A couple of hours in the decanter and it had improved, another couple of hours and time in the glass and it started to really blossom. Nice intense strawberry and spice on the palate, and a decent finish. The tannin, whilst very fine, has quite a bit of grip and is quite drying. This is still a good 5-10 years from its best.

Tasted at a 2014 tasting of the domaine. Murky colour. Smells initially like a fishing boat w. herbs like mint. Opens w. stable, pepper, cabbage, strawberries, meat and cucumber.

Joyaux en Côte de Nuits (Marsannay/Gevrey-Chambertin) - Les Grands Jours de Bourgogne (Complexe Sportif Gevrey-Chambertin) : Tasting, brief note. Already in bottle. Black and red fruit with a very ripe, fun start. Meaty, powerful elements come through from middle to finish, all while retaining balance. VG for its level.
