Another bottle found during cellar reconfiguration. A gift from friends some years ago. Rich, almost viscous, on first taste. Dark fruits, menthol and cedar. Peppery bite. Tannins still present but velvety. Looooong finish. Very serious and exceptional wine that has paid dividends to my unintended patience. Maybe the best wine I have tasted so far this year. Really a great value at the CT community price. Who knew?

Big wine with some class, rich and full of interest, not over extracted though, one to devide opinion. I like it.

First day: Smooth, Tannins covered by sweet fruit, nice freshness due to a medium acid, full bodied and with very good length. A crowd pleaser. More balanced (and more fun IMHO) than the Las Flors from 2010. Just lacks a bit personality to be great. Second day: Much improvement, Tannins are now in place giving structure, modern style but with personality and impressive body and length. That changed my verdict strongly. This is a serious and very good wine. Now …

Last time I tasted this, which was probably three years ago, it felt a bit roughshod, especially in comparison to the 2007. There was still some rough tannin, and the wine felt somewhat rustic overall. Since then, the tannin has almost completely resolved. It does come across a little ripe to me. I think this wine is pleasant, but unremarkable in comparison to the '07 and to the flagship La Peiras which I will unfairly but inevitably compare them to.

In an excellent window now. Seem to have settled a bit compared to previous notes here.

Quite weak on the nose. Tastes of black berries with a hint of liquorice, especially in contact with food. It is medium bodied and quite strong tannins, this one could wait for a couple of years. The finish is not that long.

A slightly fiery wine with a lot of nice red fruit

The 2008 Las Flors has a youthful nose, is oaky, with plenty of ripe dark fruits and a touch of black pepper. In the mouth the wine is medium plus bodied, oaky, rich with a beautiful black pepper layer, has good freshness, firm tannins, good balance for the 14.5% alcohol and finishes with a medium peppery cranberry aftertaste. The wine needs more time in the bottle to integrate the oak but will develop well. For now it is an 88-89 …
