Consistent with my last bottle, but a bit more resolved. Perfumed, very pretty, juicy blue-red fruit. Smooth and seamless on the palate with no hint of the 14.7 ETOH. Flavorful without being heavy makes this wine very drinkable. Good balance with all elements in harmony. Medium finish with fine ripe tannins. Drinking at peak in my estimation.

This wine is peaking now. It has fruit, alcohol, acidity and tannins all in sync with one another. Some dark fruit that has mellowed, does not grab you too quickly.

Dark purple color, not bricking. Big sweet red toned plummy fruit palate. A touch of green and graphite. Good density, Long finish. Powdery ripe tannins provide a bit of grip. Very nice. Ready to drink and at peak for me.

Good, but still too young. The nose is intoxicating, if still rather primary. Palate is enjoyable but, again, a bit primary and one dimensional - mostly blue fruits. I should have given this *at least* 4 more yrs of bottle age. Oak is still quite obtrusive, even after ample air contact.

Today the heat and tannins are dominant. At least there’s more herby franc flavors, but given the heat I just don’t think it’ll magically become better over time. This vintage was pushed too far in my opinion.

This viscous and herbal Cab Franc is tasty right now, but it probably needs a few more years to gain more definition. Dark red in color; full in body; nose of black cherry, ribeye, and mulberry. Flavors of black cherry, pencil lead, and peppercorn, with a grainy and earthy finish. Blend of 97% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. 14.8% alcohol. Probably better in 2023 or later.

Day 1 dark fruit balanced and concentrated - day 2 well integrated with a medium to full bodied finish! This 2014 is in a good place since last had in 2019. Never disappointed always consistent and tops my list for Napa Cab Franc!

Probably the most disappointing Detert I’ve had in a long time. It just really lacked the typicity of Detert’s CF that I’m used to - instead it was only weakly reminiscent of franc, with a palate otherwise more like a non-specific cab-merlot blend. I’ll have to crack another bottle to see if it’s also muted.

Very nice and concentrated, but lacking the To Kalon signatures right now. Try again in 2024.

My 29th bottle of Detert and by now I know the drill: decant, decant, decant.

A solid Cab Franc is not a dime a dozen. Detert Cab Franc is the needle in the haystack. Give the 2014 a 2 hour decant. Cheers to those who dove right in.

Decanted for 1.5 hours before service - really needed at least 6. In the glass, nearly black purple-red, skewing towards purple. On the nose, currants and plums. On the palate, very fruit-forward initially, with currants and blueberries leading the way, and hints of minerality, before the tannins take over. And they do take over. None of the green pepper or herbal notes you might expect from cab franc, but this may just need a lot more time. With all that …

Still quite young but very good. I would hold for a few more years.

Very nice young Napa cab franc. Big notes of typical blueberry but buffered by nice acidity. Deft touch. Good minerality peeking thru. Terroir showing up. Lovely wine. Not sure this is for long aging though.

Dark chocolate, black cherry, black currant, red plum, light eucalyptus note. Beautiful soft tannins and balance. Tasted blind, I would have guessed CS -- this does not show the CF herbal notes. That said, it is delicious!

Smoked cherries dipped in chocolate. The same velvety mouthfeel I associate with St Emilion. Still painfully young, will wait 5-10 years before opening the next one.
