Hickinbotham, Trueman Cabernet Sauvignon, McLaren Vale

I’ve been sitting on a few bottles of this for several years. A very nice finish, but not too long. Tannins are mild and the wine is fairly fruit forward. Drink up! Time is running out.

Lovely fully bodied, fruit dominant cab. Deep red in color with pungent crushed red berry on the nose. Lovely smooth blend of soft tannins blend well with the darker berry palate. Long acidic finish. Still seems young.

Nice deep nose, almost Bordeaux like. Earth, oak, and cassis with touch of eucalyptus. Full bodied with bell pepper with cassis and smoke finish. Very good wine which shows what Australia is capable of - bravo!

Singing right now. Bought this on a whim and it did not disappoint. Powerful nose of dark fruit with cassis and blackberries, some smoke, leather and tar. Medium acidity and tannins that are fully integrated at this point. Good stuff.

Nose is fresh, lovely dark fruits, graphite. Palate begins same but is riding a wave of massive acidity, alcohol, and oak. I never cough drinking wine but did 2 times on the first glass, which had been opened 30-60 minutes. Put back in cellar and had with steak tips and cream orzo the next night. Extremely concentrated fruit bomb. Deep purple color and very rich nose. Blackberries and cherries dominate and this wine is really too much on the sweet side. Even though I recognize the effort gone through to make this wine I am just not a fan. This is so rich and concentrated and without any finesse. It’s well integrated with the wood and will hold for some time I believe

Has a bit of freshness across the mid. And big otherwise.

Tasting with Chris Carpenter : Loving the aromatics, the mix of dark currants and lots of pepper, herbs, tobacco, leather and dark chocolate. Full and grippy but lively too, as the acidity keeps this tangy. Tangy black currants and cherries mixed with complex elements of loamy earth, herbs, tobacco, mint and cedar. Delicious now but I'd love to bury a bottle for a dozen years.

Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard : Light purple color. Deep and gorgeous nose of rich plums and black currants, but the fruit is laced with complex notes of tobacco leaf, cigar shop, mint, bay leaf, leather, some cocoa and vanilla. Full-bodied with solid tannins, moderating acidity keeps it lively, and the fruit comes in waves: tart black currants, black cherry, chilled plums.
