Domaine des Rémizières Crozes-Hermitage

Vin totalement fondu, ne présente pas une grande complexité mais très agréable.

(Tasted Blind): A complex bouquet showing fly spray, flea collar, spice, leather, antique furniture, and dry autumn leaves. The fruit is in the background with an undergrowth forest floor. Medium to full-bodied with notable tannin and lively acidity, the wine opens up nicely in the glass to reveal good concentration.

Ruddy, garnet colour, some bricking. Classic black olive tapenade, bloody meat, thyme, spices. A touch of heat, and slightly gritty bitterness stop this from being really loveable, but it would probably go down very well at most tables with a rack of lamb. Ready now, and unlikely to improve. Not really my taste, but well made and a good example of its type.

Very refined wine that just screams classic Hermitage. Lots of olives, smoked meat, good amount of cracked black pepper. Over time, it lost more of its classic hermitage teritary notes and gained more black fruit flavors. Overall the wine is more on the subtle side. Went really well with the lamb chops and ribeye. It is currently in a good place to drink with very smooth tannins, I strongly doubt it will improve with anymore time.

Somewhat restrained nose. Black currant and red berries on the nose with a hint of charcoal and chocolate. Slightly disappointing and short on the palate. not much complexity. Tannins are powerful, but it lacks fruit. Not bad, but also not fantastic.

Terroir-istes International - France, Rhone, Hermitage (Rodwell House) : Deep garnet to wide orange rim, the aromas is intense with bright black fruits (rather New World styling), some iodine/violet, medicinal and mushrooms. Alongside is quarry dust and mineral note. A soft, almost syrup-textured entry with new oak spices and secondary elements of chocolate, mocha and confectionery. Very funky. Certainly a wine to experience, but not to drink in quantity.

Saturated dark purple in the glass, this wine has a pepper-driven nose of sulfur and burnt rubber that is somewhat lacking in fruit. In the mouth the balance is only slightly flabby, with low acidity revealing a minutely off-dry and lightly-tannined body. My main complaint, however, is a certain quality of fruit on the midpalate that is undrinkable to me.
