Smooth and dry

Rather disappointing for a Grand Cru. Granted, it’s not pricey, but the designation is supposed to mean something. Maybe too young as it was quite tight, but it didn’t open up even after a few hours. Even at this price point there are better options.

Tasted as part of a blind wine group. It was enjoyable.

Dulcie procured this from her own personal vintner (aka Costco). Score another for this reliable supplier of value offerings; she paid around $13, which compares favorably with the $24 shown on Wine Searcher. In the classic St Emilion mould, a touch austere, notable wood and tannins (I wouldn't call them soft), lean on the fruit, a bit earthy.

Garnet. Fresh, pepper dominates, with hints of leather, and forest. The bottle was too cold when opened but improved as it reached room temperature. Still a bit dry and bitter, with high acidity, coarse.

This is a strong 89/soft 90. Very well balanced, soft tannins, and very smooth. Smells of red cherries and a little dirty. Earthy taste. Medium bodied. Not super complex, but great drinking wine. We drank on a random Wednesday night with frozen dinners.
