Ocean Eight Pinot Noir Aylward

Overly stalky and acid is still very apparent. Should have decanted two hours before but really shouldn’t have opened for another 5 years! Jury is out whether it will develop into a beautiful wine......?

Lovely, complex nose. Rich red cherries, spice, subtle oak. Touch sweet/sour to finish though.

Sneaky Vineyard Tastings post-Justina+Lee Wedding! (Mornington Peninsula, Victoria) : Round dark floral perfume, toasty earth. Rich pure dark berries, stemmy leaf, sweet leather and orange pips. Complex, with elegant transparency. Might need time to really settle down to show true potential. Way over-valued at $76 at cellar door.

Moncur Cellars Pinot Noir (Bistro Moncur, Sydney) : riper fruit over funky stalky notes. Tangy red fruit, spice, that stalky thing in the mouth . Meh

Langton's Cellar Club November 2013 (Roof Terrace Australian Museum) : Slightly sour red cherry, earthiness, struck match and meaty notes. On the palate the cherry is a touch unripe as well with some slight mid palate phenolic grip. Slight burnt notes intrude on the finish. Between two stools neither elegant or ethereal nor full bodied and structured.
