An excellent bottle that was structured but not prohibitive. A good amount of dark fruit and earthiness.

An excellent bottle that was more open and less tannic than past experiences. Gorgeous, dark fruit and overall, really tasty.

Earthy and driven by secondary flavors. Still drinking well, but not going to get any better.

Just entering its drinkable window (a previous bootle 2 years ago was not worthy) this Sagrantino still has slightly taut tannins for my taste but acid and fruit are in good balance. Love these $30 wines that drink like $75 wines once aged 6-12 years.

My last bottle consumed probably past its peak. Tannins close to gone, fruit fading leaving a (too) prominent role for acidity. Shorter than previous bottle, could be bottle variety but not glorious anymore.

I thought this wine was very good but too young. Dark fruit, chocolate, and some dirt. Strong tannins with bitter acidity. Really funky on the open. Maybe with some cellar time the tannin and acidity will integrate into a better wine.

Old world style with the dark fruit hanging out in the background. A little dirty earth, tobacco, and lether. Tight and gripping tannins. Great pairing with sharp cheese and cured meats.

My first Sagrantino. Interesting stuff. Decanted 1 hr+. Oaky caramel & warm spices, earth, herbs, stinky cheese. Not much fruit, but some cherry. Still quite tannic. Good acidity. Went well with Italian-infused burgers. Evolved nicely and kept me interested for 4 hours. Reasonable value for the $20 I paid, but probably overpriced at $50. 90-93pts.

Rokerig, leer, bessen, kersen, prachtige structuur, vol maar elegant. Kan nog jaren vooruit. Deze 4 uur voor consumptie gekaraffeerd, is geen overbodige luxe.

Its ok. On the other hand, its not bad for Montefalco at $22. Yet, that seems to be held aloft by just the Montefalco margin.

Rose, cherry, hints of coffee on the nose. Very perfummy. Taste not as enjoyable. A bit of metal and lots of acidity. Finish is thin dominated primarily by the tart flavors. Hope it is better as a food wine........ Had with gnocchi and bolognese and it improved considerably. Obviously a food wine rather than a tasting wine. Which is what it should be, right?

Ruby red with garnet rim. It takes a little bit to open up. the nose is deep, thick, fresh, with notes of mint, liquorice, wilde berries, fine spices. extremely full bodied, with velvety tannins. Powerful and elegant at the same time. Very long finish with aromas of wild berries, liquorice, rhubarb, citrus peel. Will improve. Rosso rubino con unghia granata. Inizialmente chiuso al naso, austero, ma di grande profondità e pienezza. Naso che si inizia poi ad avvertore mentolato, di …
