Chateau Mayne-Vieil, Cuvee Alienor, Fronsac

Ha, found one more bottle in my cellar! Thought I drank the last one in May this year, lucky me :) Like this wine very much. TN of May still suits the wine.

Found a last bottle of this excellent wine in my cellar. Last time I drank it, was in 2014. I guess I was a bit less demanding back then, with 4,5 stars ?? But definitely still a good 4 stars! Intense aromas of ripe cherry, vanilla, leather and raw meat. The taste has flavours of more of that ripe cherry, blackberry, dark chocolate, vanilla, espresso, some black pepper, still firm but supple tannins, and a perfect acidity. 14,5%

Wow! Surprisingly fruity and smooth merlot, made from the older vines of this chateau. Blackberry, prune, dark chocolate, hints of coffee and vanilla. Great long finish.
