Campesino Syrah Sangiacomo Old Lakeville Vineyard

Anise, brined black olives, black pepper, medium acid, medium tannin, good body and length. Drinking wonderfully with some air. Bummed its my last bottle.

Grape-y and approachable. Well balanced fine tannins and acid. Not getting much varietal character now, its entered more of a quaffer phase.

Hits every note.

Another stunner...

Enjoyed over two nights. Notes from the second night... Savory nose of damp earth, wet asphalt, and blackberries. On the palate the tannins are supple but giving. Olive tapenade, red and dark berries, grilled meats, and refreshing minerality finish things up. This bottle was not quite as dense on the mid-palate. Just seemed to lack a bit of stuffing that I recalled from the last bottles. Maybe an odd-ball?

Alluring aromatics. Gentle tannins, good acidity. Bacon and olives. Well balanced. Ready to go without a decant.

Sunday gathering, Benji visits Wine Country (Napa Valley Wine & Cigar) : Very defined. Savory Petaluma gap nose, black olive, spice, nice effort.

Decanted for 4 hours before Xmas Eve dinner with the family. Similar notes to the last bottle. There was so much festivity that we couldn't break down the wine. All in the family loved it though and it quickly vanished. Couldn't think of having it any other way! Another amazing wine from Macario!

Poured a glass through the Vinturi. Dark purple, seamless, soft, silky texture. Nose of smoked berries and macerated dark fruits followed by bacon fat with some lavender and sun dried rosemary showing up as well. On the palate the dark berries and pepper is there but give it time. The is a lot of structure off the bat that will give with a 4 hour decant. Softer tannins at this point lead to tar, licorice, asphalt after a summer rain. …

Super young but impressive nonetheless. Really inward but with time in the glass dark black fruits, bacon fat and grilled meats show up on the nose. The palate is deep and brooding but really needs time in the bottle to show its best.

Similar to the 2010. May have more power. Game aromas with dark fruits combine for a great Syrah.
