Willi Schaefer, Graacher Domprobst Riesling Auslese Nr6, Mosel

Two bottles of this and I *loved* both. This is intense and deep and grand Auslese. But still plenty bright and balanced. Superb with food.

Vacation wines; 6/27/2023-7/6/2023 (Hotel Sonne, Partschins, IT) : Glass: Spiegelau Universal Popped and poured. Clear, youthful pale golden color. Beautiful nose with sweet stone fruit, wet stones, slate, herbs. Very harmonious and multi-layered. On the palate fresh as a daisy. Pure elegance, harmony and balance. Wonderful combination of fruit, sweetness and acidity. Complex and multi-layered, but also refreshing and simply delicious. Long and lingering finish. Potential for another decade. 94-95

A bit more age on this wine and it benefited from it… graceful and smooth, not demanding but gently sweet.

This is absolutely spectacular- it carries a lot of residual sugar and has a viscous mouthfeel but has a tremendous amount of acidity that cuts through it all. Typical Schaefer genius. Needs spicy food to perform best!

Golden yellow and mid-density. Pretty good, though I wouldn't say this has evolved particularly well or improved since my last bottle four years ago. Doesn't seem to have gained much complexity, and more importantly, feels lacking in acidity.

Light bodies and pleasantly refreshing, this has notes of apple and earth. Sadly the mid-palate is a bit dilute. Fine, far from great.

Light golden yellow, and relatively light bodied for an Auslese. Vibrant with decent acidity and nice complexity. Very good wine; nice to drink now, but obviously has a long life ahead.

Golden apple and elegant; complex and layered.

Complex with good acidic backbone and textured finish.

sweet and somewhat simple -- nice apple and peach flavors with on overtone of honey. you really have to search for minerality in this. could use more acid. delightful finish lasts and lasts, but again, could use a touch more acid to keep it fresh.

Skurnik/Theise Spring Tasting (City Winry) : Intense, amazing stuff. hold 92-93

From a 375; showing beautiful floral aromas over incredibly bright, sweet flavours of cherries, lime, apple, nectarine and melon with hints of honey. Not particularly complex but lots of primary fruit here for pleasure; well balanced with good acidity and a clean finish.

This wine is medium bodied in intensity with a clear, green/straw color. Apple, quince, mineral and hidden iesel notes. Tropical, honey flavors with notes of diesel flavors. A clean finish.
