Lucien Le Moine Chablis 1er Cru Montmains

Brilliant note below mine that says it all, but the initial joy of a buttery nasal explosion didn’t fully translate to the palate. Agree with previous poster, it remained lithe and stringent but nevertheless a wonderful age worthy example. Plenty of LLM on the list at 67PM Sing, and wished I’d opted for a plumper Chassagne Cailleret. Not being mean, excellent with shellfish, but wouldn’t want to quaff a bottle in the garden without food.

Opened and drank over 3-4 hours. Upon PnP, very Burgundian reductive sulfuric nose, and as jdabrosin noted, it was typical for LLM. Initially, quite wound up with sour lemon, lemon verbena, lemon pith and peel, black tea, ocean air, and spices. After a couple hours, it started to really open up with beautiful lemon curd, bright tart citrus, and crème fraiche, losing the slight bitterness that it had in the beginning. Still very young. Has a nice potential. The nose is wonderful, typically Lucien, with notes of citrus and oak. On the palate the green fruit, chalk and high acidity in the wine is not fully integrated with the oak. The finish is long and complex Give this wine some time in the cellar to come together and I think it will be great in a few years!
