Yum -- eminently drinkable pinot noir. Earthy, cherry aromas -- some spice.

Brought this to a favorite restaurant. Didn't focus on the wine and didn't pair well with all dishes but it was a great all-around choice. Cherry, raspberry, nice spicy finish with a little lift. Fruit is pure and clean. Prototypical WV pinot and nicely done. Would by again.

Color is pale mahogany; the reddish shades are tending towad brick. Nose of red plums, blackberry jam, violets. Tannins are still strong but have a texture more gravelly than rocky. The red fruit has a short finish but the tannic tingle and perfumy nose go on a while.

Very nice Pinot, sour cherry fruit that moves to a cherry fruit on the palate as the wine opens up. It is more Burgundy in style then a lot of other pinots I have had from the area. I have one more bottle and I will sit on it for 3 more years as I think it could get better.

Relatively ripe for Eyrie but well balanced. Aromas of dark cherries, wet underbrush and something savory. In the mouth, this is ripe, dark red fruits that finish with a gently bitter note and some fine tannins that gently dry out the mouth.

A big forward Oregon pinot. Raspberry, cherry cola, baking spices. Palate is forward, but well balanced and finishes beautifully. Less elegant than the standard Eyrie stuff, but pretty good.

Big boned. Lots of cherry on the nose and palate, low/moderate acidity. Hangs together well. Obviously a well made wine, but a bit of a bruiser for my palate.

Funky Burgundian style nose. Somewhat green, herbal - almost a little skunky. Good concentration of flavor but that greenness comes through which is a bit distracting. The finish is short and downright bitter. Something about this wine just seems under-developed and the acidity is disjointed. Pass.

Medium body. Dark cherry, plum and rasberry up front. Smooth. Moderate finish with nice acidity and peppery spice.

Delicious aromas of cherry fruit, pepper and baking spice. Really pleasing red fruit on the palate, fresh cherries and strawberries, forward and easy in their expression. Nicely balanced acidity brings up the finish, with somewhat chalky tannin. Lots of lingering fruit once the grip of the structure eases in the finish. Delicious stuff.

Memorial Day Weekend & Eyrie South Block Reserve Pinots (Willamette Valley, Oregon) : Very richly fruited... overall this is too large a wine for my palate, especially in a year like 2009. Really thick on the palate, but at the same time kind of tight.

Pacific Northwest Tasting Trip Day 1; 4/4/2012-4/14/2012 ((Willamette Valley & Portland)) : Small taste at the tasting room. Nose of florals, dark raspberry, spice. Palate of dark raspberry, red raspberry, spice. Finish was above average and there was decent acidity present. A very different style the main line, much more open and accessible early on.

Dark cherry and baking spices on the nose. Carries through on the palate with a hint of dark chocolate and nice medium body. Finish is long with fine-grain tannins coating my mouth and balanced acid.

Tasting room visit- 9/7. Perfumed and floral aromas along with red fruit, vanilla, and mushroom. Rich and silky on the palate with mineral notes, cherry, earth, and sandalwood. Round and polished structure with a medium-long finish of red fruit. Very nice.
