Blue Lotus Winery Lenoir Black Lotus

Has the distinctive nose and palate of black Spanish grape. Somewhat tart right out of the bottle, but with some decanting, it smooths out some. Generally, it’s dark fruit with some earthy notes. But it’s very unusual- a unique taste. Might not be for everyone, but it’s worth a try. It’s a little intense by itself, but pairs really well with dark chocolate or prosciutto.

Peppery, smoky, and mildly tannic with blackberry and juniper on the nose. Blackberry wins out in a complex flavor. Not too dry.

A very unusual smoky dark fruit on the nose. Very rich fruit on the nose, but not just that. Maybe pine/juniper is the hard-to-nail component? Overall, really unique. Struck me initially as very tart, but as I get further into the glass, it’s not striking me as tart at all.
