Similar notes as last tasting 1½ years ago. Black cherries, blueberries, and black raspberries with licorice and spice in the nose and flavor. A rich, well balanced wine with nice complexity, full bodied, and a long finish. At its peak but should go 2-3 more years.

Still deep color. Lots of black and blue fruits in the nose with hints of minerals. Black cherries, blueberries, black raspberries with licorice and spice in the flavor. A rich, well balanced wine with nice complexity, full bodied, and a long finish.

A nose of dark fruits and spice, dark purple in color. A full-bodied Rhone blend, with flavors of blueberry, black raspberry, and cassis, finishes with licorice and Asian spices. In a good drinking zone. Linne Calodo is a great place to visit if in the Central Coast area. www.winelx.com

An outstanding wine with great depth and structure, but it really needs more time or a long decant. I pnp with an aerator but it didn't really come into its own until the last glass at 3+ hours. I'll wait at least two years to open my last bottle.

Unchanged from previous tasting of 11/30/2019. Enjoyed at Red’s Bistro in Loomis as we emerge from Covid-19 restrictions. Strong nose of dark berries with a bit of power. Flavors of blackberry, violet, and a feral, earthy undertone. Matched my Hoisin Pork Chop perfectly.

Quite robust but with an hour in the decanter it worked quite well with lamb sliders with goat cheese and roasted tomatoes.

Interesting I think this was in a better place than the 2008. Dark fruit, cassis, spice and possibly clove. The more I am having older LC wines the more I realize I prefer them at about 7 years.

Initially it overpowered the turkey so we stayed with Pinot Noir through dinner and had this a couple hours later. Primary blackberry/blueberry with a perfect weight & mouthfeel. Night after it was more balanced with the berries and alcohol more subdued. Has plenty of years left.

This will likely continue to get better over the next 5 years, but it is drinking really nicely now. A beautifully smooth and complex blend of red, black, and blue fruit on the palate and nose, with tastes of woody spice. Long finish.

Dark fruit with a level of spice. A little bit rustic after opening, it quickly settled down into a complex balanced wine. Never quite got to the same level as the 2012, which we had first. But still very enjoyable.

Damn! Swirling magenta in the glass contrasts with day-old cut grass in a barn at the end of the day. And then... where in the world did this bouquet of freshness come from?! My palate dances with the brightness of berries kissed by sunshine. Lovely finish and a gorgeous wine. Stems up!

Recently purchased on the secondary market. So good! This opened up a bit tight on aromatics. Fairly light in color for 51% syrah. Over time - wow, much better than expected! So fruit forward my wife (drinking blind) guessed that this was a 2010 zin! Well balanced in body, this should hold for quite a few more years. This just hit the spot tonight!

The Chateauneuf blend with Syrah over-weighted at 40%. Took a while to open, was only 91 after 40 minutes in decanter. I'm no good at describing aroma but the nose was big and wonderful, better than the palate. It gradually came around and really popped with the pasta after two hours. A beautiful California CDP, big and full yet smooth. This will be even better in two or three years.

Still shows nice grenache fruit in a lower acid, soft textured format but this bottle opened with some mustiness that never completely resolved.

This wine continues to show well in my opinion, well past it's current CT drink by date. The tannin has softened and the wine seems very well integrated. Ripe black cherry on the nose with a long almost sweet creme de cassis finish.

This wine is incredible, gorgeous nose that is full, structured, and a balance of fruit and savory spice, full dark fruit on palate with spice a medium acidity which elevates the mid palate, medium finish.

Juicy grenache fruit in a lower acid, softer texture format dominates the other Rhone varietals. Nice aromatics with ripe fruit and savory notes on the finish. Drinking nicely at this point. Doesn't seem built for long term aging.

(from memory) Dark inky purple, subtle nose of cherry liqueur, black plum, black pepper and mission fig, syrupy palate with red and dark fruit, easy tannins and spice, finish is rather straightforward and dominated by prune with touches of cherry, heat and baking soda

Decanted for 2 hours, drank over 2 hours. Expansive nose of dark cherry and fruits, medium finish punctuated with a peppery spice, medium tannins that are well integrated. While this wine could benefit from additional aging, is drinking beautifully now.

Drank this way too young, or didn't give it enough time to breathe. Should have decanted. Last glass, about 3+ hours in, was completely different than the first glasses, and in a very good way. Red fruits began to expose themselves, as did a fair amount of spice. I'll hold off on any other notes or scores. Glad I still have a second bottle, but I'll let it set for awhile before I open it. If you do open soon, …

A typical full-fruited LC, but thankfully still holding it together. A nose of cocoa and cherries with some toasted coconut is followed by a more intense version of the same on the attack. There is some sweetness but I can't tell whether it's RS, very ripe fruit or alcohol (there is, however, no sense of alcoholic heat; and while the tannins are gone, the wine retains enough acidity to impart a sense of balance, for its style). The finish is …

This was rather tasty. This wine was made to be paired with rich, fatty, smoked meats. The palate profile was rich, jammy, dried cranberries, licorice, rhubarb, graphite. It does have a little bit of that green, herbaceous Mourvedre bite on the finish that one tends to love or hate. My wife is negatively sensitive to it, but I do enjoy it myself, which is why Linne Calodo is controversial in our household. Linne Calodo does seem to have Mourvedre as …

A bit of stewed fruit on the nose at first, but that blew off quickly. Typical big LC fruit, with some game and earth notes. Not heavily structured, but seem relatively balanced and not hot. Probably near the end of its optimal drinking window.

Big, giving nose of black and red fruits, nutmeg and vanilla (with some heat). Palate is richly fruited, but balanced with juicy acidity. More black and red fruit unfold in layers. Meat and spice notes add interest. A tiny bit of heat pokes out - but this is by and large well put together and balanced. Medium-lengthed flavorful finish. Has aged and held up well for a central cost "bruiser".

I dropped off the LC list because I wasn't drinking enough of them to keep up with the club releases and I was unsure as to how these would age. Based on this bottle I may have made a mistake. It is still a big wine, but the fruits have receded enough to allow a myriad of flavors and complexity. Cherry, raspberry, pepper, spice--the flavors ebb and flow. Add in an elegant texture and a lingering finish and what's not …

Solid GSM blend. Hints of bacon fat, dark blue/black fruits, chewy tannins. There's a streak of chunky dryness that keeps this from being scored higher--perhaps just a phase and it just needs a little more time. (PE: 89)

Exceptional wine, I could just smell this all night. At once pure spice and earth - and the next, concentrated raspberry with white bread toast and a touch of tobacco. Silky smooth on the entry with a nice finish. There some tannin left and I could see this aging nicely over the next 5 years, but its totally delicious now. Great job blending, I can get the syrah and grenache components at different times. The calodo wines rarely dissappoint me.
