La robe est légèrement évolué en parrois. Niveau arômes on est sur les fruits noirs confits, la garrigue, un peu d'épices. La bouche est assez fondu, plutôt ample et acidité bien dosé, pas des plus complexe ou long mais bien dans son ensemble!

A big bruiser of a wine...full body, black licorice on the nose and garrigue. Tasted blind and thought for sure this was a Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Has plenty of room for aging though it's tasting great now.

From magnum at Maya in Avon, CO. Really singing! In great balance with no edges. Brilliant nose of raspberry liquor, leather, tobacco, and wet stone. Round mouth feel and finish. Demonstrating the benefits of age on a well made wine.

Nice red wine that has depth and balance, but not much distinction. This bottle did not show any rustic notes. My biggest thought was "would have better last summer."

Red Rhone Blend (70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre & Cinsaul). France. Rhone, Southern Rhone, Vacqueyras Appell. Opaque red, black color. Sweet tropical fruit aroma with faint hint of wood. Full body, sweet/citrus (medium acidic), perhaps orange, and a lovely crisp short finish. The tannin is low but with a nice course little bite to it. Fantastic. Your wine friends will like it and I think the fruit and non-overbearing tannin is great for your non-wine friends as well.

Popped and poured, followed over seventy-five minutes with various foods. Deep dark crimson. A warm musk but no funk. Muted spices, plummy, rich. Drink now. Like, NOW now.

Open that bottle night. I forgot where/how I got this bottle, but picked it as an aged French wine in our cellar of WA wines. I really liked it! Tar, lavender, plenty of fruit. Excellent balance. Dark deep color. Very much alive, and a great reminder when I realized, after the fact, that it came from my CellarTracker friends Tom, Dennis, and Malcom during our first meeting/offline in 2011. Nose is hugely dark with tobacco. Palate is dominated by a preliminary tannic drying that is nicely integrated, along with dark berries and spice. Quite vibrant, so I don't 2016 is the end at all, could easily go on for another year or more (so I'm pushing up the drink by date to 2017.

This is wine is ok. I generally like wine from Vacqueyras quite a lot. So perhaps I expected too much. It has sweet red fruit on the nose. Dark purple in the glass. Medium body. Sweet fruit at the front of the palate. Plums and some red fruit, but then a tart, metallic taste. Maybe the acid is out of balance.

Dégustation horizontale Châteauneuf du Pape 2001 (La Caverne de Collin) : Sans note prise, je garde le souvenir d'un vin frais, au nez fruité et poivré, à la bouche assez gourmande dans un style précoce. Surpris de l'appellation au dévoilement, il me paraissait plus léger. Bien et agréable, mais sans grande profondeur. 88 pts

Major barnyard funk dominates, taking a good hour to blow off. Once that settles down, this is a rich, spicy, complex wine that is fun to drink and a nice accompaniment to food.

What an interesting wine with lots of changing in the glass. At first zesty and ripe with grenache fruit character and earth, then tarry and meaty with syrah notes coming to the front. A lot of back and forth. I'm guessing best to drink in the near to midterm.

Dark, earthy with plenty of fruit. Not overly complex but flavorful, rich, simple but pleasant. Just a tad hot on the finish. Enjoyed it.

This is fully mature. While the color is still holding, the quality of the nose and palate is faded. Some work is required to coax the perfumes and flavors (which run to the darker spectrum, with some brett). A simple table wine at this point, with better than expected acidity. 14,0% abv., drink now. Audozed 2 hours; served non-blind over 2 nights. Suggest a 90 minute aeration in decanter if opening soon.

Better than I had hoped after reading some uninspiring reviews years earlier. Bottle age has definitely smoothed this into a plush, fruit bomb style. Not my favorite Vacqueras, but not shabby, either. The finish a bit short, the alcohol poking out. Ripe red fruits and satiny smooth. Yes, it is a bit bretty on first open. However, after decanting and given enough air this wine shines: nice on the palate, typical southern rhone happily lacking over the top fruity/jammy-nesses. It really just needs a couple hours to blow off the brett. Kept 1/2 bottle in decanter open in the fridge. It was best on day 2 and 3. I wish I had bought more.

Interesting bottle of wine. Slight fizz upon first tasting indicated it must have had some secondary fermentation. This just lasted for about 10 minutes in the glass and only detracted slightly from the good qualities of the wine. The Brett was not as emphatic as some other reviews have described, but definitely noticeable - a positive to my taste. I've had great wines from this producer before, but clearly something went wrong with this particular bottle. The wine had a terrible metallic taste that I first attributed to me getting over a cold, but my wife confirmed that it simply did not taste right. We opened another bottle of a completely different wine, which tasted very good, so I don't think it was my tastebuds...

Given my note of nearly two years ago, I think this wine ( at least my bottles) has entered a dumb phase and while still apparently youthful is closed for the time being. Still a rich crimson purple, but moss, peat, smoke, dirt, funk, chared wood dominate and the fruit stays hidden. Much better with time open: better on day two. At this point, I would be inclined to wait another two years before the next bottle.

Deep crimson, blueish hue, dusty looking. Nose quite subdued but hints of cherries, herbs and black olive. On the nose, quite a spritz to start with. This slowly dissppeared during a couple of hours drinking the bottle. The palate opened up over time to reveal, good fruit characteristics, plump, black fruits, prunes, damsons, earth, black olives, noticibly tannic. Probably still quite young but developing well. I would say it would benefit from an hour's decanting.

Aromatically a bit closed at first then becomes full of dark plum and cherry fruit, some tar, some savory elements, background old barrique aromas, very little brett for this producer. Exceptionally complex Sang de Cailloux. Lots of sweet fruit masks the usual Sang barnyard. Dried cherries, plums, licorice, sous bois, earth, and a bit of 90-weight gearbox oil. Precocious like many '07s, but needs several years to hit its peak.
