Unfortunately this second bottle of three purchased in 2019 was at this point dominated by barnyard that didn't go away with airing.

Disappointing, there is some good fruit in there but I think it is 🧊 too much covered by a reductiveness that lends an ashy and a bit feral quality, and the tannins seem a little bit green and harsh.

No filtrado. Rubí de capa media con el ribete abierto. La nariz comienza muy reducida, hay todo un volcán en …

unique Spanish wine. Grown from 40-60 year old Listan Negro grapes in the Canary Islands in volcanic ash soil. The grape vines are pits in the ground to collect water and to protect the vines from hot Sahara winds. High acidity and tannins, on the nose new car leather. Dark fruits, leather, damp earth, minerals on the palate. One to try if you want something different.

Suertes del Marques, Envinate & Ekonomou Wine Tasting (Mr Vertigo) : The wine shows low to medium intensity, red cherry, spicy, thin oaky frame, earthy and very pleasant. The wine shows thin palate, medium to high tannins, medium acidity, mineral, really young at the moment, astrigent but I have hopes.

Quite a refreshing and inspiring red from the Canary Islands (Teneriffa). The wine needs a little time to blow off some initial funk and slight brett. The bouquet comes with red cassis, some white pepper and meaty notes (bacon, iron). On the palate it’s not fat, but quite long and easy to enjoy. I wouldn’t keep this for more than a decade and enjoy it over the five years.

Tasted like a bad bottle... then I looked at these notes and realized that maybe that funky nose and nasty flavor was the "unique" style. No idea how Luis Gutiérrez gave this a 94. I won't score it until we try the other bottle... but that may be awhile.

Fruitier than anticipated. Borderline refreshing. Smoke or wood on the finish.

Vigorously decanted night one and then right back into the bottle to take on a trip that didn't happen. Glass night two, night three, and now this review night four. I tell ya, it's gotten better every night. Full-clustered, low oaked, and fresh. 12.5%. Evenly split between Vijariego Negro, Listan Negro, and Castellana Negra. Warmly effusive and complex bouquet--saline, floral, and pastel berry--and good tension in the more autere, stellated flavors that surface a light, plush texture. Really lovely when …

Not for everyone, but I find it very intresting. Like with certain cheeses, there is some musty smell to it which does come through on the palate. It is not bad , it is mineral and complex but it is aquired taste. It is light/medium body, acid driven, stinkberry wine that is hard to match with food but wine you respect it for uniqueness.

Reduced (in the burnt tire sense) like so many from this producer. Herbs and some roots on a reduced (in the sauce sense) blackberry compote base.

Really nice, thick and juicy, somewhat funky at onset but that airs out quickly. Development with a few years cellaring will be interesting.

Neither fruity nor flowery, this is in an herbal, iron-and-blood vein. I thought that the Listan Negro might impart some spiciness but I didn't sense that.
