Good for the price.

My first impression was similar to that of some of the other reviewers: That this was a just "acceptable" wine, but one that didn't have much going for it other than a lemony bite. As it warmed up and got more exposure to air, however, it changed. My second glass was about an hour out of the fridge. By then it was much "rounder" and less sharp, with some detectable minerality and a plusher mouthfeel. I drank the wine with …

Pale straw colour. Big pear fruit character on the nose. A forward wine with buttery character on the palate that lingers for a while but fades in texture and body. The finish is a bit light. A good value wine for everyday drinking.

Exactly what one might expect from this appellation and varietal. Made in a sharp, piercing, citrusy style. I found some distracting bitterness at the back and on the finish. Otherwise, a decent wine.

Underwhelming nose. Hints of lemon and a touch of minerality. Slightly thin in taste with similar flavour. Prefer more body and a touch more oak. Disappointing.

Popped and poured. Some faint tangerine and honeydew melon on the nose, and not much else; not much going on with the palate, either. A skosh of neutral citrus, otherwise pretty ho-hum. Some creaminess provides for a decent mouthfeel, but this needs more fruit, and is desperate for acidity. 9 bucks.

Golden, slightly copper colored. Smells fresh and ripe, with honeydew, papaya and white flowers, just a hint of sea shell. The wine starts off tangy on the palate, with high acid, but the creamy body and rich fruit come through, although they never overtake the acid. Flavors of lemon peel, honeydew melon and white peach mix with sea shell and chalk notes. A fun, zesty chard, but not simple. It’s not often a basic Mâconnais wine shows this much verve …

Not the best of French burgundies- but a refreshing light, buttery start with mineral aspects. Finish is somewhat ordinary.

Tastes of chalk. Completely different from an America Chardonnay and not in a bad way.

At $10 not recommended. Sorry, France, but California beats you hands down at this price with 1.5 L Woodbridge Chardonnay or any of a half dozen others. Coarse, chemically tart, watery, lacking in fruit, but washes appetizers down cleanly, so it's not totally blase.

(13%) Nice body and frame showing floral overtones, subtle ripe peaches and white fruits (pears). Smooth and creamy before this one turns crisp with mineral spice that lasts on a fine finish. A simple wine but pleasing and varietally spot on. If I ever become a Chardonnay fan this is what I will be looking for... Wine Geek Notes: Imported by Pasternak

Lip smacking Chardonnay for $10 in the DC area. This is a special vin ordinaire for those gatherings where your focus is conversation not about wine but you would honor your guests. California wineries have trouble getting a must that will produce this style of food-seeking Chard, less about perfume and bakery pies and more about such abstractions as verve, harmony, and balance. 85-87.
