Cigar, dirt, eucalyptus, and red fruit on the nose. Really great acidity, and, while tannins are not overpowering, they are very 'present' if that makes sense. The palate follows the nose, and the finish is moderate in length. Very good.

2010 was an amazing vintage. This right bank Bordeaux is 95% Merlot and 5% CF. Drinking nicely right now. Lester and cigar box on the nose. Sour cherries on the palate. Still big tannin which tells me still lot of life. To be honest, I was expecting more from such an acclaimed vintage, but still very nice at 11 years old.

I bought this several times, half bottles for $15 each. I love half bottles of red as they are easier for me to finish (my wife doesn't drink). This was a go-to wine for me, good quality but not too expensive.

André Chatenoud may be more at home in his cellars than anywhere else. The history of the château dates back to at least the 18th century. One needs only to explore the incredible limestone caves and see the rich range of old graffiti engravings to be impressed. They range from the harvest workers of the 1700s to American GIs of the 1940s. Lussac-St-Émilion is on the right bank of the Bordelais, and is often regarded as a "statellite" appellation. The …

Expected this wine to still be closed for the vintage but it was surprisingly ripe. Densely concentrated with typical merlot character for this region with notes of blueberry and cut spinach. Tannins were present but not tight, indicating possible malolactic fermentation, but could be the property as I have not previously sampled their wine. This St. Emilion was well scaled but not terribly interesting. What I would expect from a valu-priced Bordeaux.
