Had with banana peppers. Opened up after a while, and we enjoyed it. Not much of an Italian wine lover.

Time, wine and the meaning of life 1967 Bolla Amarone: 83 -> 90 -> 92 points COLOUR: Medium to medium deep tawny. NOSE: Earthy, cigar, cigar ash, dried blackcurrants. After 1+ hour in the glass, the aroma moves towards dry leather, empty cigar box / cedar wood, anise, a little licorice, fennel and salami. Later rosehip, tea and field strawberries arrive. (91p) TASTE: For some this wine would possibly have passed over the top but it still has a lot …

Decanted an hour or so. No sediment noted and not much halo. Dark cherry red color. Fresh dark red fruit profile with minimal raisin and leather notes. Full body with smooth mouthfeel. Finish is quite emphatic and enduring.

Vinturied into decant, This started pretty good, ripe with slight raisiny fruit, but fell apart after a few hours, Acidic and disjointed, short obscure finish. Not a rebuy

Dark in colour, moderate nose. The wine itself is nicely in balance: fresh, with a long and sweet finish. On the palate cherry, spice and herbs. This is in a very good spot for drinking, no further keeping required or recommended.

Nose full, leather, dark fruits, dried plums. On Palate smooth, mouthful with nice acidity. Still on the young side, but already very drinkable.

This deep garnet Amarone had a slight orange tinge at its edges. Aromas included Brandy, rich caramelized sugar, chocolate, and strawberry licorice. The wine was bold with a *very* long finish. Tannins were medium-plus and the high alcohol (16%) gave it thick, slow legs. The wine was bone dry with medium-minus acidity. On the palate were cola, plastic, prunes, and brown sugar. It was warming and complex, with a changing palate over time. This wine was an experience. Well worth …

shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate the end of the work week. selected this bottle as available information raised a question about longevity. crimson color, fading to orange at the edge. fragrant nose. dark fruit flavors with raisin quality. middle weight. acid and tannin resolved. appears to be at peak of development. encourage others with bottles to enjoy now.

Light red color wine. Light small fruit notes with very subtle cherry notes. Limited tannin with medium complexities. Lacking character.

Rich and dense (16% alcohol), lovely prune and raisin, smooth midpalate of candied peel, long finish.

Medium-garnet in color, with notes of smoke and coffee on the nose. Medium-body, low tannins and low acid. Flavors of green, unripe fruit, cedar, and tart berry. Had at a tasting and expect it would show better as a pizza wine.

DnP. Youngish garnet red, yellow rim, 5. Spicy bouquet, dried fruits, sultanas, plums and some more exotic stuff. Dry relatively mellow palate, some tannin and also refreshing acidity, long spicy finish. Drink now onwards. Very good Amarone having a fine harmony.

Still very youthful looking, but not exceptionally dark. Vinbrant nose of almonds, cherry liquer, leather and more. On the palate, better when just fractionally warmer than cellar cool. When warmer the 15%alc starts to kick in. In flavour profile, like a slightly more potent Valpolicella, but lacking the richness of other Amarone wines previously tried. Decent to good, but not great

Overpowering tannin when drunk on its own, but did pair well with pasta and meatballs, I expected a bit more from this amarone, not complex. Would suggest waiting a few years, but I am unconvinced it would improve.
