D1h. Garnet red, 4. Mature bouquet dominated by volatile acidity, spicy, dried roses. Tannins almost resolved, fine finish, albeit too much volatile acidity. Drink NOW

A better wine than 12 moths ago. The fruit is starting to open up, whilst keeping the other elements in nice balance. Cherries, plums, licorice, some tobacco. The acidity is still quite pronounced, but that's fairly typical of a Barolo at this stage. There is enough fruit to make this me think this will evolve nicely from here. Enjoyable.

Two years after my first bottle, I give it the same vote. This time circumstances forced me to serve it without a sufficiently long decant, so it took a long time in glass to open up. After that, lovely, succulent red berry flavors, nice residual sweetness, good acid (but less prominent than I remember); nice savory notes, including hints of mint. Overall I found this softer and more open than before. With more air the tannins became more prominent.

Nice example of a Barolo. A little bit tight and restrained for now, with the fruit under-played. Medium bodied with decent length. Plums, cherries and liquorice. It will be interesting to see how the fruit develops.

Very much in the dark fruit tone. Almond paste, aniseed, tar. Some menthol freshness provides lift, but the palate is a little hollow. Put on weight with time in the glass. Not a keeper, so enjoy now.

Double decanted. Not a bad Barolo, but lacks interest. Strong balsamic notes on the nose, dark fruit and cigar ask on the palate. Obviously a warm vintage. Tannins nicely balanced (I'm a Barolo drinker, so others may still find this wine tannic). Not a lot on the finish, some dark tobacco. Drank by the glass at Cut. This was a really enjoyable for a young, entry-level Barolo. Great with a dry-aged ribeye steak as well. It was not altogether classically styled, but certainly not overtly modern either. The nose showed some ripe dark berry aromas, a bit of herb, a dash of tar and a drift of dried violets, all sprinkled liberally with warm spice scents. Beautiful medium red color, a bit deeper than many Barolo. Full, rich nose of ripe red fruit with prominent smoke notes. Big flavors of the same ripe red fruit join a deep earthiness, with residual sweetness, prominent soft tannins and medium acid. Medium length, with the typical Barolo dustiness on the aftertaste. A New World style Barolo, deliciously drinkable after only five years, but promising many more years of pleasure and probably a nice evolution as well. One of the …

Off the wine list at Il Villagio Osteria, Teton Village. Very expressive nose of red fruit and savory herbs. So much more complex than the Tre Nova Nebarro (WA) we had before hand... Paired with elk chop (again!) and seafood Fra Diavolo.

Retailer tasting : Some earthiness, autumn impressions, pleasant balance between sweetness and acidity. A fairly light and elegant wine. Give it some ageing.
