With only 8% ABV at the age of 18 this wine is still fresh with a lovely touch of sweetness and good acidity.

Cork, 8% alc. AP 0808 Bright, light gold colour. Soggy, crumbly cork. Petrol, and subdued tropical fruit, toast, honey, and spices, on the nose. Fresher palate, with rounded mouthfeel, sneaky acidity and some gentle stalky-like bitterness on the moderate-length finish. Opinion: Sweetness is much better contained than my previous bottle, and while this has underlying richness it doesn’t feel particularly sweet. Very easy drinking. In the zone now, and for next 7 or so years.

Christmas Day 2020 (My place, Kent Street) : Served with nectarines wrapped in proscuitto di parma or jamon iberica. From Coravin. Smells like there might have been a little botrytis in here...I get peach, apricot, a little orange as well as ripe apple and honey on the nose, it's rich and creamy on the palate and very enjoyable indeed though slightly outshone by the other 2007 today. Acid Sugar balance is near perfect and this is a very elegant wine.

Pale gold; penetrating bouquet - lime & pineapple, not overstated; juicy, fresh, sweet, well balanced; lovely now. Should drink well 5+ years.

From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas are creamy, slightly buttery, sweet spices, muted stony apple and pear fruits with very slight apricot intrusion (like it's peeking around the curtain at a private apple and pear party). Off dry with green and red apple fruit and beautiful, fresh acidity. there is a honey note here as well as the butter and cream. Lovely.

Sunday lunch at mine (My place, Kent Street) : From Coravin. Five years makes a difference. This is now all custard apple, quite softly broad with a little honey. Off dry but sufficient acid to keep it fresh. Yum.

Cork, 8% alc. AP0808. Somewhat youthful green-yellow colour. Explosive nose of honied peaches, smoke, white flowers, red apple, mango. Quite a big sweet presence in the mouth, and the acid seems a bit timid. As such, it comes across a bit blousy in terms of structure. Finishes clean, light, and powdery; perhaps the acid is there after all. Certainly not cloying like the nose might suggest. Opinion: That nose is so alluring! Lovely Mosel Riesling, drinking well right now. Yet …

White fruit (peach, apple, slight citrus), nice sugar, good acidity. Floral. Well balanced. Lingering finish.

Delightful, delicate bouquet, slate; quite sweet, soft, lithe, good concentration, more than a hint of kumquat. This is singing; a little loose on the finish. Drink sooner rather than later.

Not that complex, but beautiful drinking. It's quite full and while the acid balances it nicely, a bit more crispness would bring it up a point or two.

On the nose a mix of tropical fruits with apple and lemon. On the palate rather fullbodied sweetness with a core of good acidity, as well as a dash of creaminess that adds breadth to this Spätlese. Just a touch too sweet and full for my palate, at least for now. Held up very well for five days and improved quite a bit during the first three days.

Just shy of a decade old and this is one delicious wine. Pale yellow with a nose white peaches, white flowers and crushed rock. On the palate flavors of white peaches, rock candy, honey, minerals and a bit of lime and on the finish. I perceive a bit of petrol post-finish, but not on the palate -- odd. Feels a bit sweet for a Spat, but no complaints as there's enough acid to balance things nicely. A tiny bit of …

Quite a bit of petro. Some development, but still a fairly long life ahead I suppose. Quite rich with good depth of fruit, yet well-balanced and light on its feet like a good Mosel spätlese should be.

Classic Mosel spatlese. Restrained bouquet. Still young. Lovely balance of fruit, sweetness and acidity. Seems sweet for a spatlese but is that just the intense fruit? Long life ahead. Will improve.

Dinner with good friends (Ubin Seafood) : This had a very slight nose of sulphur that quickly blew over, displaying a very nice scent of flowers and tropical fruits. One can almost anticipate the palate that follows, and indeed, it didn't disappoint... Peaches, lime, ripe-pineapples, balanced with superb freshness/acidity and a fine streak of minerality, all delivered with good length that lingered on the palate. SL definitely scored this one in 07 without over-doing it...

Still quite youthful on the nose with citric (lime) notes the dominant fruit aroma but there are touches green apple and urnipe peach, additionally cream, spice, sulphur and wet stone mineraility. On the palate the wine is sweet more than off dry with slight spritz and a drying quality on the mid palate. The main flavour is quite zesty lime but there is also some ripe red apple. Very nice but still young.

A clean, crisp, simple but good tasting Spätlese. Nothing wrong at all, but not mindblowing. Is there a word for an everyday Spätlese. Drank it with spicey Thai food.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #070; Germany: TOP Riesling by an importer. (By AS) : Compared to the 2006 this wine has hardly any bouquet. On the palate a lot of sweetness and acidity. Fruits like papaya. In this stage not really outspoken.

Good now; will be better later. Intriguing dried oregano, honey, lime and currant-like sweetness to the nose; kero and pepper just making an appearance. Builds some caramelised pineapple richness. Creamy texture leads into silken flavours and a touch of chewiness - lime, green mango, honey, apple. Lively, touch of spritz that dies away. Day 2 Up a level with a clean mineral streak running from nose and lengthening out on the finish; merest hint of lychee too.

(Part of a massive tasting with no contemporaneous notes) - Sparkling (not literally) refreshment with moderately rich fruit and the strong acid of the vintage. Solid Kabinett with lots of life.
