Extracted black fruit, mocha and anise; young and a bit coarse right now, but plenty of stuffing

Re-visited. I can confirm my previous rating, excellent stuff! Very smooth, very good to drink, interesting aroma spectrum.

Surprisingly good I have to admit. Saw it as a new item in our supermarket, 7€/10USD. Rather expensive for a usual supermarket wine but in general I'd consider this one as low priced. According to the website, Dark Horse is a Gallo project. I have had good experience with Gallo wines (not meaning the standard ones) so I gave it a try. The eye sees a dark ruby red with a dark core and purple rims. Pretty dark for a …

Was told it was as good as Apothic Dark for lower price. Nope.

Not enough tannins or oak for the price. Pass.

Opened this bottle last night during a college football game, and for the first time in maybe over a year did not decant a red wine. From the recommendation of our local retailer, I was expecting a big, fruity, probably slightly simple, but totally enjoyable wine. What I smelled and tasted was totally the opposite. For also the first time in quite a while my nose and palate found way too much VA, so much I did not finish the …

Served at a wedding reception, dark, jammy, and over the top sweet with upfront dark berries and vanilla.

A bit too sweet / on the funny side for our taste. Nevertheless a great experience and price/value !

Sehr marmeladig, ein wenig wie der Apothic. Hat aber mehr Vanillearomen und wirkt dadurch recht rund. Sicher, ein Massenwein aber zumindest ein leckerer!

The new vintage reprises 2010's distinct chocolate/mocha note, with subtle black cherry. The tannins are assertive and a bit rough, not unusual for a young cab, but surprising here because most tannins were filtered out of previous vintages. Still retains an air of sweetness, probably due to liberal but smart use of oak.
