Rather lean and very high acidity. Very surprised as this was great few years ago

An interesting project brings winemaking of Bordeaux 200 years back as here we have CS and Merlot from Chateau La Lagune vibeyards blended with Syrah of Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aine. Deep garnet red. Medium+ intensity aroma of tobacco, prunes, dried blackberries, tar, bayleaf, cassis. Medium body, fleshy and smoky dry black fruit flavours with earthy and rustic nuances, medium density, concludes with finely grained rich tannic structure. Incredible value of 13 year old Bordeaux/Rhone blend for less than €20.

During a blind testing session at a WSET school. This was very oxidative, dark brown color, soy sauce and meat on the nose. Does this supposed to be this way? Not so sure about this... A Syrah/Cab/Merlot blend from Rhone and Bordeaux.

This wine is just starting to peak and come together, while not the most complex of wines, this has a very harmonious feel about it, nicely put together

At a dinner party. Odd and a disappointment. The wine was dumb lacking any personality. Strange since mixtures of Bordeaux and Rhone varieties work elsewhere in the world and 2010 was a great vintage.

Dark red-brown color. Strong rustic red berry nose with a bit of milk chocolate. Tasty blend of chocolate and red fruits with a pronounced tanginess; despite the age, it maintains an overall rustic body. Not bad, but I wouldn’t buy it again.

A curious mixed wine coming from the south of France: cabernet dominates the aromatic palette of the Syrah while in the mouth the silkiness of the Syrah softens the tannicity of the cabernet. An experience that really original but totally dispensable. Un vino de mezcla curioso para proceder del sur de Francia: la cabernet domina la paleta aromática de la Syrah mientras que en boca la sedosidad de la Syrah suaviza la tanicidad de la cabernet. Una experiencia cuando menos …

No elements of terroir.

Brought over by Mark for the Atleti-PSV game. Initially, the syrah seemed to dominate. Later, the cab felt more prominent. Overall impression was of a modern wine without any distinguishing characteristics other than the blend of two big varieties. Big house marketing and big house wine making. And while I'm on the marketing, okay it's not as bad as The Prisoner or 7 Deadly Zins (the product is not nearly as bad either), but it feels more like they're selling …

This was a couple of days ago, and I did not make a detailed note, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the unique character of this wine, and can understand why way back when the Bordeaux houses would incorporate Rhone Syrah in their wines. Red and black fruit on the palate with earthly smoky notes, and good length. A few more years or some decanting necessary. An interesting oenological experience.
