perfect mid-neck level, technical cork, for 15 years old still remarkably youthful colour, nose of quite intense rich fruit but with the restraint and nuances that come with age, actually rather good, palate shows Penfold’s touch of rich middle and back palate with still hints of the dry strong finish, not really fine or complex, overall considering the price and market segment this has aged quite remarkably well and much better than when young when the components were all rather …

Somewhat peppery nose, light brown ring, clear tears. Not long finish. Not terribly round.

I was not expecting a lot from this wine, but it did beat my rather low expectations. It is still well balanced with bright fruit. It did not seem past prime and although it was quite simple in structure and shallow in depth, it was pleasurable. A fine wine for the simple style it seems to be marketed as.

This was a bit of a surprise. Decided to open with a burger and salad and it ended up tasting quite nice. It is a rich deep purple and coats the glass. There is a bit of chalk when you first taste it, but that goes away to reveal some dried cherry, celery root and earthiness that was real tasty on a cool evening. Quite a bargain at $13.

Good value. But, not a great wine.

Still on the list on the local el cheapo Chinese in Kyneton. Holding up very well at 7yrs of age. Seems cab dominant with subtle green fruits and herbs, perhaps just a fraction lean but works well here. Good balance and presence. A feel good outcome.

Drank on NYE 2013 from a less than perfectly cellared bottle. Starting to show signs of over ageing but still quite enjoyable.

Is a sub-$10 bottle and drinks like it. Its not great, not awful. Its just ok. Tannins are really unbalanced, but present in total adequately. There is a lot of minerality, chalk, maybe a little vanilla. Very little in the way of berries or fruits.

This seems to be going downhill. First night was OK, but second night it was replaced by a new bottle.

Poured into a decanter and then poured the first glass directly after that. The nose was flat with mineral overtones. The palate exhibited a deep plum flavor that got peppery the longer it sat. About 30 minutes in and on the second glass, had a pleasant mushroom like quality to it. Let the last glass sit in the decanter over night, next day the wine lost it's mushroom taste and went back to the very beginning, flat without much depth.

Was much better with cheese and some appetizer however straight up, it wasn't a smooth run - and after 4 hours of decanting didn't improve.

Quite a bit of acidity and tannins, but not much else to make this vintage more interesting - the complexity just isn't there and the impression is rather bland

Solid week night drinker at under 10 dollars. The nose and palate both feature dark fruit with cocoa and dried coffee bean notes.

Ruby/purple, dark in the glass. Juicy fruit forward blackberry/plum mixture. Ripe tannins, high alcohol, bold in style. Finishes with a rush of more red fruit as compared to the darker fruits on the front end.

Good wine, but not significantly improved from four years of cellaring. There's still plenty of acidity and tannins to go, so we'll keep the rest on hold for another couple of years.

Nice wine for $11. Decent nose. A bit medicinal, tart, some fruit. Palate has nice tannins, ripe and unripe berries, which is interesting, grass, weeds, slightly peppery (which is what does it for me). Not a great wine by any means, but for a patio pounder, daily drinking wine, it's both acceptable and affordable.

So much fruit in here. Berries, plums, vanilla creme. Very soft and smooth. Light tannins and low acid. A very enjoyable bottle for the price. Proof you don't need to spend $100 to enjoy a great bottle

aerated with the Vinturi on days 1 and 2. Mike had a glass on day 1. Surprisingly good - very fruity - almost jammy, slightly tannic. Raspberries, cranberries, plum. Day 2 about the same - a little more raspberry on the nose. overall, pleasant, drinkable

Ok not great but good QPR - closed nose - popped and poured through rabbit - no heat, short finish, not really displaying any terrior, some cherry pie but little else - somewhat one dimensional - will edit if it changes with 2nd glass - good every day drinker but not one that will impress the vinophiles in the group

Nice deep color. Medium nose with a little green pepper hint backing up notes of cherry and plum. Good acidity and light tannins, but there is not enough fruit and complexity to really take advantage of the structure. The wine is not getting any better. Drink up.

Raspberry jam on toast nose. Stewed rhubarb and blueberry mouth. Simple but enough flavour for one to hope that this will age well (as previous vintages have). Smooth balanced generic berry finish of 20 seconds. Many more bottles to come so will keep one posted on this ages.

This is a very dark red blended wine that appears thick and full bodied. The nose had raisins, pepper, dried flowers, burnt oak. This wine is rather tart up front with a acidic middle and tannin filled finish. This is a very full bodied red wine blend but one which will have a hard time taming the tannins and tartness even with age in the bottle. The fruit will be gone before the tannins, might as well drink this now …
