Drinking my second bottle of this more than five years after my previous bottle. My friend and I drained a 2008 Yorkville Petite Sirah from Carlisle and it was so delicious, that it called for another Carlisle. I chose to go for this, as another full bodied Carlisle might be too much for us after the PS beast. And wow oh wow, has time served this wine well! As always, stored in a cool, Danish cellar after purchase on release. …

Unfortunately my last bottle of this beauty. Drank with braised pork shoulder. Mature fruit, spice and earth notes. Drinking at peak and simply delicious.

This was opened at dinner last night. It's completely aired out, I am enjoying the last few ounces from the bottle that sat under the open cork overnight. It's a touch warm perhaps, at 70f. Spicy, leather aromatics, with a texture that is smooth and polished, really no tannin anywhere that I can sense. Deep cherry, some orange peel that gives it a tangy, citrus note that marries really well with the cherry. This is aging beautifully and is one …

Pnp. Really enjoyed. Glad I opened now not that it won’t last for a number of years still but it was in a good place. Lively freshness, red fruited, touch gamy, bright acidity, clean clean finish. Excellent with dinner. No heat at 14.9%. Honestly, wish I had more.

Enjoyed this. Drank over two nights. Gamey fruity smooth and fulfilling. Short on the finish but otherwise nice.

Drinking well now, a nice GSM blend. Aromas and flavors of blackberries, black cherries and bbq. Integrated medium tannins/acid add structure. Drink through its 10th birthday.

Still fresh, not overly complex, but nice balance on nose and palate. Despite 78% grenache, either the blending or the grenache grape source has virtually eliminated any typical grenache earthiness (which my wife hates with a passion). Nice length. Has the stuffing to last many more years.

Didn't really enjoy this too much - found it rather lean tasting. Not sure if it needs cellar time or if it's just the wine.

Early impression, as I just pulled this and opened for XMAS Eve dinner. Been a while since I drank one of these, this is my last bottle of the '08. Pours moderately dark but not beyond that and I don't see any signs of aging or color change, FWIW. Comes across with grenache playing the main part--a glossy, spicy red fruit and sweet leather note that I enjoy. Just a light level of tannin, even with the minimal air so …

Dark ruby red. Nice fruit, blackberry, cherry, a little charcoal. Not a lot of depth. A little rough around the edges. Nice fruit, though, enjoyable.

One of the less inspiring efforts from Mike but a lovely wine nonetheless.

Pop and pour - note after 2.5 hours. Lots of strawberries on the nose. Strawberries, raspberries and other red fruits on the palate. The grenache really shows through. This is in a really nice place now. Great QPR.

A delightful wine at a good state. Spice all the way through; nose, palate and finish. Some earthiness on the nose. Medium body. Good residual acid but the tannins are resolved. Enjoy!

Popped the cork about an hour before pouring but no decant. This showed some darker fruits, a charred note, and some spices. I like the light-medium weight and the nice acidity. I also found a slight licorice/menthol note and fine integrated tannin. Drinking really well now. As much as my tastes have moved toward France and Italy, I still love me some Carlisle!

Drinking well. Tannins have softened and fruit has taken a backseat to elegance. Pairs beautifully with food now.

The wine is a nice ruby red color. The very interesting and inviting nose had cherries, kirsch, minerals, black pepper, dry earth, underbrush, violets, and baking spices. This has medium body, moderate tannins, and very good acidity. On the palate the spicy cherries and minerals hit first, quickly followed by black pepper and a nice earthy edge. The wine has a fairly long finish leaning on the spices and minerals with the fruit providing some background sweetness. Not a big …

Needed another wine at the end of an evening. Decanted thru an aerator and started drinking over next 60-90 minutes. Dense, dark ruby color. Dark berries with earthy spices. Big flavors. Nowhere near the end of its life. We enjoyed alone, but would have been great with big food (lamb chops, BBQ ribs, etc.)

Classic Carlisle signature of bramble and dark fruit. Full silky mouth feel. Drink now or over the next five years.
