Tastes like Christmas, with orange and lemon peel wrapped inside a fruit cake mix. Sultanas abound. Drank after dinner over two evenings three weeks apart. Kept in fridge with no ill effects.

Rich colour, fine nose, good intensity. Previous bottles reviewed by others must have been flawed, as this one (in a cold cellar since 1985) was fine.

Smells of sugared orange, vanilla, cinnamon, caramel apple. There is also caramelised onion or mushroom which is what usually upsets me about sweet wines. Lemon marmalade, orange soda, white peach, warm honey, orange cookie. Juicy in the palate with acidity despite the high sugar. Orange marmalade, grapefruit, green apple, confiture, apple syrup, dried apricot. Lemon soda finish, slight candy. 8+/18

Bastille Days - Tours de France; 7/14/2023-7/16/2023 : (from 375ml bottle). gold colour and moderately viscous in the glass. the nose is a lovely melange of tropical fruit, sweet spices and fresh flowers and lead directly into those luscious flavours in the mouth, where a delightful citric acidity lifts and delineates them. guava, mango, apricot, peach, clove, ginger, lime zest, and other flavours play out with the just-waxy honey botrytis core. good concentration and agreable sweetness with a long finish. …

2008 Burg blind tasting. Dessert wine. This was quite dense and sweet with smoke, apricot and bakery spices. I clearly prefer Riesling to Sauternes for its greater freshness.

My first bottle of this. 375cc. Really beautiful nuanced Sauternes. Not at all overly sweet, tasting closer to a VT than true sticky, but with botrytis character of honey and apricot. Worked great with panna cotta w/ saffron. Perhaps a spot more acid would be nice, but seemed very balanced given the residual sugar is not sky high. Nicely done. Punching way above its weight.

Bu en demi. Sur la pêche et le caramel salé. Pas mal ample et sucré, une impression de dattes et de figues en millieu de bouche. Pas leplus long mais sans accroc. Très bon.

Demie bouteille.

Golden colour. Plenty of richness and plush sweet fruit. Lots of Botrytis and acidity just enough to prevent cloying. Gorgeous but seemed to lack a bit of pedigee initially. Tried two days later and more exotic and exciting so still loads of time and think it will be one of the best wines this chateau has produced.

While already amber in colour this has aged very well. A clean expression of dried fruits and flowers. Viscous texture, not overly sweet and with enough freshness. Generally I don't fancy dessert wines but this is nice. Far from decline.

Sigalas Ribaud (375 ML) 2003 is medium bodied wine. The apricot, pinapple, honey and vanilla flavors hits the right spots. Well balanced with nicely integrated oak.

Very deep bronze center (brown), orange rim with signs of age. Sweet nose, sugar and botrytis, brown sugar and caramelized lemons, hazelnuts and a such of acetone. Smooth and sweet, low tannin and acid, nutty, great length. Excellent Sauterne, fully mature, drink now.

Note: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine. Drank this over a few days. Rich, full flavored. Dark honey in color. All that one could as for in a Sauternes, at least all I can ask for. Drink up.

Young and filled with equal amounts of promise and sweet, honeyed, tropical fruits, there is a distinctive orange and nectarine component that adds to the floral and honey aromas. There is freshness and energy that keeps all that honeyed fruit on its heels. This is quite tasty, but it will be much better with another 7-10 years in the bottle.

Bronze center, yellow to pale rim. Sweet, botrytis, honey, citrus, roast banana, guava. Smooth and sweet, honey, tropical fruit, fresh bread, modest acidity and tannin, very good length. Very good Sauterne from an atypical year. Shows well even with the low acidity. Good to drink now.

1983 vs. 1986 Sauternes Blind Tasting (Menlo Park, CA) : Tasted blind. Color was darker orange than others; faded nose, thin; palate is similarly thin, good sweetness, fresh, simple, slight tartness; short finish. I wrote "lower end sauternes" and ranked it last. Uninspiring. 84

Expressiv nose of baked pineapple, vanilla, dried white grapes from Panetone, a hint of coconut milk. Some taster found some chritmas tea...Mouth deep, concentrated, powerfull and mouth fulling. Almost as surprising as the nose. Exceptional for every one. Sigalas has never disapointed me. The question of the acidity has not came to my mind. The balance was good enough to forget it ?

Surprisingly floral, actually inexplicably floral for a Sauternes. Mirabelles vanilla dried apricots but there is this weird note of burnt plastic also in the palate. In addition this lacks acidity and all in all this feels like a sugar syrup, exactly what sweet wines shouldnt be... Hope for the best!

Sweet fruits and fresh vibrant flavors, just what the doctor ordered. Add a perfume with floral, vanilla, apricot, pineapple and honey scents coupled with lush, round, but lively fruits and you have the recipe for this wine.
