Nose and flavors of dark jammy fruit, leather, tobacco, earth, and hints of dark chocolate and vanilla. The earth, leather, and tobacco aromas and flavors have really come to the fore over the past year. This Malbec is just incredibly smooth and well balanced, with super silky tannins and enough acid to pair well with food. Blind tasted by a panel of eight, against 4 other Malbecs: Blackberry and plum, with highlights of red raspberry, leather, vanilla, anise, and dark chocolate. Incredibly smooth and well balanced. Silky tannins and a medium length finish. This wine has an incredibly velvety mouth-feel. This Washington State Malbec was by far the favorite of the evening, and handily beat out three well-regarded Argentinian Malbecs from the Mendoza region, as well as a California Malbec from Monterey County.
