Firestone Vineyard Jarhead Red

Better than many 'California' labeled wines in the price range; it shows very good concentration and some grip. It's still a total fruit bomb with strong alcohol notes.

Hate to be not totally enthusiastic. This is a respectable producer, and a very good cause. My complaint is way too much oak. The quality and blend of the fruit is awesome. There is a nice, concentrated richness. Plenty of rich dark red color. The nose gives away too much oak, but also plenty of interesting ripe mostly red fruit. Creamy and still young on the palate more than 3 years off the vine. Have to wonder what these quality …
