Domaine Bernard Morey et Fils Santenay Vieilles Vignes

I had no idea what to expect from this. It's still entirely sound at 15 years of age, but rather boring. Could use a bit more acid lift, or a bit more fruit, or a bit more of each. Overall decent enough, just not compelling. More age might help if you like tertiary notes in your wine. It doesn't seem to be in decline, so perhaps that is the answer.

Starting to drink well but should continue to improve. Firm acid core remains, making it almost too tart at this point, but color and density are good with interest growing in the form of more developed and mature flavors and aromas, some sous bois, some flower. Good wine.

Beautiful light garnet color and immediately note oak on the nose. Dried fruit, cherries. Lots of oak and barrel aging is very noticeable. Tannins are still firm and wish I had another bottle to revisit in a few years. Great deal for the price.

Great deal for $15. Decanted for a few hours on Day 1, and then pop and poured on Day 2. Really well balanced with surprisingly bright fruit to balance the high acidity and medium tannins. Nice long finish, think it's drinking well with some air now and a better deal than a lot of Village Burgundys at similar price points.

In a very good place right now with lively acidity and surprisingly bright fruit for an 06. Relatively simple but enjoyable.

Surprised by the overt wood treatment on this wine. Maybe it was in part the switch from a Loire gamay that made me notice it so much, but I didn't like it. I will leave this alone for a few more years now.

Definitely rustic tannin but it's appealing nonetheless. Brambly cherry fruit and some spice, tasty stuff, especially for the price. Still plenty young.

On the young and taut side still. Good cherry flavors and strong acid backbone. Not many secondary or tertiary notes coming through at the moment. Decant for a good couple of hours first or let it rest for a few more years.

Just a beautiful wine, with a lot more concentration to the cherry fruit than I anticipated. Apparently from vines planted in the late 50s - it makes sense when you taste this. Tons of structure, I feel like this can age for a good 10 years at minimum.

It's almost like you can smell the structure of this wine, which doesn't make sense, but nonetheless. Really nice earth and cherries. Has a fungal note with some baking spice and bright strawberry. Nice, upfront tannins with really nice acidity, and good balance between the two. The tannins are pretty grippy. It tastes very young yet. Some cranberry and sour cherry. Really long finish of cranberry and mineral.

The house style -- minimal oak but some (around 20% I believe) that is integrated through its spice notes. Higher acid, more linear and driving in the fruit content. I could see this aging very well. Harder edged tannins in this particular bottle. Time will tell.

Doughy nose at first, then red licorice and rootbeer/cola like elements, (which dissipate, too). On the palate, bright cherry fruit with red licorice notes. Opened at 2 pm, tasted between 7 and 9 pm.

Red Burgundy (Waterford Wines Milwaukee) : color of these Morey wines steps it up to cherry next to the Bouchard and Colin Bourgognes. nose shows very mineral driven with that cola note. paula notes the feminine floral side of this wine compared with the maculine of the Morey 06 Chassagne-Montrachet. Cherry fruit on the palate with a mineral component. the palate is rocking the fruit that the nose doesn't show. mineral on the front side. fruit on the back.
