It a great spot but fully developed in my opinion. I'd say drink up! Had the 2013 Ravera the next day and that wine has a decade or more ahead of it.

This is drinking perfectly. The tertiary aromas are now showing. This is exactly how I want my Barolos to taste and smell.

From memory PnP. Light ruby. Red berries and floral. Medium bodied, elegant, medium+ acidity, tannins present on the quite long finish. Better with food. A very nice Barolo despite the weaker vintage. Still quite youthful.

Nice bottle. Good acid and tannins. Fruit still abundant. Drank first with a NY strip, and then a duck dish with sage butter and sweet potatoes. Both worked well. Needs food, as expected.

A reminder that these wines need food. Tasted on its own, the acidity is a bit overwhelming. Paired with food, it came across as delicate and nuanced. Tannins are prominent, great acid for the food, with violet and rose notes. A tiny bit of licorice / anise on the nose and palate. Ready to drink. Agnostic about its future….

Stood up for weeks, decanted off 2oz fine sediment. Light youthful ruby, aromatic, red fruited, roses; light bodied, high tannins, balanced 13.5% alcohol, red fruited, youthful, nice persistence through the midpalate; finish is medium-plus length. Elegant, balanced barolo, enjoyable now but will improve for a decade. For drinking right now I think the Vajra Ravera has the edge, though both will improve with more time. 91 A few hours decanted: Balanced, fruit forward, enjoyable, some savory spice and complexity on …

This was exceptionally pretty and in a nice drinking spot somewhere just past being young but still short of being mature. The color is mostly crimson with a bit of ruby left if you catch it at the right angle. I don't usually attach much significance to color, but that's a pretty good representation of where it's at. The tannin has become quite refined. Not total cashmere but at least a very nice merino. Very pleasant to toss around the …

The '14 BDV is good, but based on bottles from a few different sources I've tasted over the past ~6 months, it is not aging as well as I would have hoped tasting it on release or back in 2020, my prior TN. It seems like the fruit may be fading in concentration without the wine developing the complexity you want to see in aged Barolo. It still has nice textural elegance, inner sweetness, and good acidity, but not depth. …

Final of 4 bottles, last had this wine about 3.5 yrs ago. Lovely tobacco and sour cherry notes, some pretty acidity to cut through the tart fruit, and gritty tannins still present. Will last another 5+ yrs, but gorgeous now.

This was really showing well with an elegant floral nose and red fruited palate. Tannins really kick in on the finish but they seem quite polished and not to drying. Impressive balance and elegance. Another winner from Vajra.

4 hr double decant and this showed lovely aromas of fresh cherries, raspberries, roses and earthy mineral scents that lead to a plush, tart, cherry driven flavor profile with a wild herbal kick on the finish.

Young, but really nice. Rich red fruits, a touch of violets, a little burly rather than graceful with the tannins coming through. I didn't mind though. In magnum, I think this has a long life ahead and will age into its weight but YMMV.

Best on the first night, with notes of black cherry, raisin, and tar. Darkly pitched in profile and in the glass, but I found it overripe and it seemed to oxidize by day two. It was more than drinkable but just not a wine I want in my cellar.

Un bon Barolo arrivé à maturité. Les tanins sont assouplis, le vin est bien proportionné et équilibré, agréable, mais un peu terne dans son expression aromatique. 90 pts

Barolo and Barbaresco 2014s at Terra Rossa (Terra Rossa, London N1) : Iron filings, violets, spice on the nose. Quite coarse tannins and burly rather than graceful. This needs a lot of cellar time, but not sure it has the fruit to pull through. Possibly a bit heavy handed and dare I say it over extracted.

2014 Barolo and Barbaresco (Terra Rossa) : Quite a bit of CO2, which we had to shake out with vigour. First impression was of a tight, young, somewhat lean wine, although with air the nose loosened up to reveal some floral and ashy notes. Tangy and berry-fruited on the palate, and notably dry. This wine felt the least ready tonight, and also the most stereotypically '2014', but I did enjoy it.

Medium ruby color. Nose of sour red berries, anise, grapefruit, and underlying alcohol. On the palate it offers red strawberry, orange rind, sour cherry, tobacco, slight licorice and pomegranate. High acidity, medium high tannin and long finish. Very much in a young state at the moment, but highly enjoyable and approachable. Give it a good decant. At the start of its drinking window.

Tannins are all resolved. Decanted. After an hour of air, it showed more cohesively, and lost some raisin notes. Definitely Nebbiolo but much less of the bright cherry notes. Open now. Not a beguiling wine but well-crafted, symmetric wine that accompanies food beautifully.

Loved the combination of Tajarin with tartufo bianco & Vajras 'Coste di Rose' 2017, a Barolo that delivers a lot of pleasure today. The plain red berry fruit finds additional shades of mixed dried flowers, mint and wet asphalt. Rich and also energetic & vital in the mouthfeel. Changing a lot in the glass this keeps all senses active. A beautiful Vajra wine.

In a restaurant in Milan. PnP. Light floral nose with hints of cinnamon and clove (likely tight). Mid weight but so pretty palate with cherry raspberry, and some nice earth tones. Good length and fine balance. Just a great food wine and charming Barolo, will be even better in 5 years.

Full body, bright ruby color with brick rims. Impressive aroma of red berries, tobacco leaves, spices’ box and truffles. Dominant cherry palate following by tar and and lingering, juicy finish. Rich and powerful, complex and well balanced, lovely acidity and muscular tannins. Food friendly, well pairing to veal schnitzel. Open half hour ahead. Serve 16ºC - 20ºC. Drink now and next four/six years.

2011 Barolo* (Terra Rossa) : Something of an underdog on paper, but showed really well. A touch of austerity on the classic nose, with blue-ish fruit that turned sweeter and redder with air. On the palate I found fine tannins, lots of juicy cherry and strawberry fruit and a delicious bittersweet twist, like a drop of dark treacle in every glass. Open and attractive.

Delicately chocolatey, thick, voluptuous, powerful, deep, very serious. Tarry, treacly, like melting asphalt. Almost oppressive. Olives and tapenade. Forbidding. Like a threatening storm cloud. Exciting. Gothic.

Impromtu 2011 Barolos (Terra Rossa, Islington) : This was lovely, possibly my favourite of the evening. Quite a dark red, strong notes of olive, tapenade, black cherry. Rich, flavoursome, autumnal - mushrooms and ash, yet still overridingly tangily fruity and showing really well. For what is the entry-level offering I was very impressed, and now very keen to try the Viole!

Pnp. Beautiful wine. Nose of tea, iodine, leather and dark dried fruits. Silky texture with the tar n roses, dried black cherry and currents. Nice tension and a long finish with fine dusty mouth coating tannins. I don't think this is at peak. Maybe 4 to 6 years. It's gorgeous and drinkable now but will undoubtedly get better. My Doodle and I are pairing it with roasted lamb leg and root vegetables.

2 hour decant before serving. Deep garnet color. Jammy red berries on the nose, eventually picking up some syrupy fruits. Medium body with medium-to-medium-plus acid and strong mouthcoating tannins. Surprisingly thin on fruit on the palate, offering some raspberries, without quite picking up much secondary flavors yet. Jammy finish. This might be in an awkward phase.
