Day one has prominent (coke) cola elements on nose and palate and it is present on day two as well. Second day notes-(this wine is better on second day) Dark garnet juicy plum purple color. Nose has dark chocolate, vanilla, dark berry, cassis, sweet flowers, sweet tobacco, sweet soft leather, baking spice smoke, and graphite elements. Palate is full bodied with a Concentrated core of “dark fruit cassis paste”, sweet tobacco, sweet soft leather, ripe black cherry, blackberry, ripe black …

I have to laugh.....having numerous convos with Napa geeks and Bdx geeks over the past few weeks about how you HAVE to let wines sit til they are ready, at 'peak' to enjoy them......ah respectfully, no. Not by any means. Almost any wine ever made can be had in a great place if you give it the air it needs to perform well.....this one is no exception. My last in depth note from this one in March '25 should suffice. …

Just over a year since popping the last bottle of this vintage. Decided to pop one of these into a decanter 2 hours before dinner after a fairly strenuous day. Sampled/drank a few glasses over a few hours and with dinner........in a very different place than last year! Hour 1: All fruit! That classic Ehrlich fruit on the nose/palate. 91 Hour 2: Pow, the heat! All alc hitting you in the face with every sip. 87 Hour 3: Acidity rises …

Right place, right time to give this '19 a go for Valentine's Day dinner alongside a bone-in filet mignon, au-gratin potatoes, crispy honey glazed brussel sprouts and roasted asparagus. My better half and I quickly noted that this Oakville cab was a nice complement to a protein-based dinner, but drank even better on its own. A 1.5 hour decant was just shy of what was required for this one to settle down (15.5% alc) and it really hit its stride …

90-minute decant. Deep dark ruby magenta color. Stewed plum, ripe blackberry, dark chocolate, strawberry shortcake, and bay leaf. Smooth, dry, slightly syrupy palate. Firm tannins on the longish finish. This is classic Venge. Very easy drinker. I’m not a fan of the syrup, but my wife would have given this a slightly higher score.

I gave this a 3 hour slow ox, which means I opened, splash decanted, back into the bottle with the cork out, and brought this downtown for a meetup with out of town friends. air time seemed perfect. dense black and red fruit on the nose, Cassis, blackberry and morello cherries on the palate, mixed with forest floor, crushed stone, hint of tobacco. I love how the oak interplays with the sweet oakville fruit. great texture and concentration. Nicely integrated …

Opened this one a few nights back as I needed one more glass that night with food....put under a Repour stopper since then.....had another glass last night....another glass tonight, and then Carol decided she liked it and wanted to finish the rest of the bottle..... Pretty classic Ehrlich. By this 3rd night it's pretty soft in the mouth with classic Ehrlich notes. Very well integrated right now.....

Hate rating a wine so many times but am compelled with this one to do so. Been 5-6 months or so since my last bottle. HMC was kind enough to crack one open after we'd finished off our previous bottles for the evening. Cold from his chiller and open for business right from the start. That classic Ehrlich nose and taste profile evident on the first sip. The cassis from this vineyard mated with BCellars' choice of French oak is …

Did not enjoy as much as my last bottle, it didn’t past the dance weekend test. It needs time and attention and better glasses. This was just fine but wish I had saved it for a night at home. Lots of nice fruit, but still some noticeable alcohol.

Opened this last night, influenced as usual by Mark1npt. In this case he was correct, this is drinking unbelievably well right now. Open from the pnp, intense nose of dark fruits, palate to match, everything in balance. The tannins became a little grippier with time open but it was still excellent. Great on its own or with a Waygu steak and salad. Looks like these will be added to my ‘drink now’ list.

I'll second Decanting Queen's note. A 95 all day for me. I was also trying this on advice of Mark and it was in a really great drinking window. Fruit all the way at the front of this, but really nice wine. Bottle was quickly finished off between my fiance and me. I will be reaching out to Peter to try and grab a few more bottles...

Pnp'd with my son, daughter in law and beautiful new grandson as we watched the Eagles dismantle the previously tough, Titans. No contest, in the game or in the glass. Over 2-3 hours this one just overpowers the zins we had earlier today. The nose is rich and classic with graphite and herbs. The palate is equally as rich with deep, dark berry fruit, riveting acidity giving it that classic B Cellars energy in the glass. The palate is dry …

Was going to wait to try another of these but it's a nice day out by the pool and, well.....why not? Pnp'd into our pool safe stainless steel drinking glasses, cork back in the bottle and enjoyed that first glass over about 45 minutes then poured each of us another glass from the bottle. First impressions was great dark red fruit, dominated by cedar and oak. Tannins are pretty well integrated for this being so young. 2nd glass a little …

Blueberry pie and licorice on the nose with flavors of raspberry and black cherry. A touch of minerality and grippy tannins held the finish for 10-15 seconds. Decant for at least 2 hours and you will enjoy this fantastic Napa cab.

HMC opened a bottle of this from his stash at the end of dinner as our glasses were empty. Notes almost exactly as the bottle at the winery last month, with the additional emphasis that this currently needs every bit of 2 hours of air and then the great Ehrlich nose and taste profile emerges in spades. This also for my palate might have an additional 2 or 3 points in it going forward this year and next.

Tasted at winery. Bottle opened 1 hr prior to our arrival. Crimson color, long leg, Vanilla and honey suckle kn the nose. Crisp but more subdued acidity compare to 18s, good depth, softer tannins than 18s. I think 19s in general is more approachable earlier than the year prior. Good wine

Ummmmm.....great and open ready for business. 2 hour decant with classic Ehrlich nose of briar, graphite and dark fruit. That great acidic bead of energy in the back ground driving it. Oak and tannins could always use a year to smooth out further but very good now with a decant for those who can't wait! 93-94 today. Maybe a few more points in there?

Two hour decant. Deep dark magenta color. Ollalieberry (like a tart boysenberry), powdered sugar, and orange rind on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with vibrant acidity. Firm, low intensity tannins on the longish finish. My rating is completely based on potential. This will be terrific, but absolutely needs development time.

This is going to be really good -- and it was solid on the 1st night. Very rich and creamy. It flirted with being over the top; however they reined it in just enough. Dark purple in the glass, nice blue and purple fruit. Lot's of vanilla up front and chocolate on the finish. Mineral notes mid-palate and lasted throughout. Day 2: Up'ed the rating by 1 point as the steam has subsided and the wine is just great. This …

PNP - Wine was thinner and lighter than previous vintages with fairly high alcohol and lower tannins. Predominate characteristic - wood. Nice tasty, great smelling french oak but way too muc. Putting this to bed for 24 hours. Day 2 a bit more in balance, less wood and alcohol a bit of that Erhlich fruit profile, Still less volume and heft than previous vintages. Very drinkable now just not a wow wine like lets say the 16 vintage. 92 now …
