Our last bottle of this vintage which has, and I suggest will continue to do so for some years, matured very nicely. As before, although this is Cabernet Sauvignon, I got the general impression of redcurrant and cranberry rather than black fruits, making it feel more right bank than left if a Bordeaux analogy is useful. Whatever, this is a well made wine, still a good deep colour with minimal ageing. The tannins are there but now fully integrated and …

Good dark colour with only minimal bricking. Good nose too very Cabernet. Redcurrant rather than cassis and slightly short length on the finish but very pleasing. If you must have a Bordeaux analogy then right bank rather than Left, or maybe Graves despite the CS label.

Good Friday dinner party and three bottles of SA Cab dispatched with a lovely meal of rack of Scottish lamb and wifey’s very wonderful potato dauphinoise. Cederberg 2013 Five Generations, their flagship Cabernet (CFG) Kanonkop Paul Sauer 2005 and 2006 (KPS) All were popped and poured through a bottle filter although none had any significant sediment We started off with the comparatively baby wine of the CFG. The back label suggested a maximum of 10 years ageing but this was …

15 months in 100% new oak barrels. Deep purple to ruby rim, the aromas leap out of the glass, showing plenty of oak spice, ripe cassis, toast, fresh vanilla and tobacco. Full-bodied, the front palate delivers lots of oak spice that sometimes gives an impression of raw wood planks. However, the fleshy sweetness of fruit arrives brimful with ripe blackcurrant, cola tonic and blackberry. Expressive wine that works well with fabulous flesh and juicy core of ripe fruits, loads of …

Terroir-istes Local - Cabernet Sauvignon, Non-Stellenbosch (Cape Town - Las Cases) : (Tasted Blind): Deep ruby-red in colour, with aromas of freshly-picked blackcurrant, spiced oak, cedar and dark 70% chocolate. An elegant entry, this medium to full-bodied wine has juicy acidity, freshness, and a lovely depth and richness that carries through the wine. The black olive cigar box gives it a savoury edge, complementing the pure ripe fruit while the oak sits underneath, balancing it out. Complex with muscle and …

Cederberg from South Africa for truly fantastic wines, their Cabernet Sauvignon V Generations proved to be at its best. Classic notes, black currants, blackberries, coffee, leather, fine herbs. All in fine balance with acid and tannins. Will definitely buy more wines from Cederberg.

Deep purple-ruby A plethora of blackcurrant towards cassis and jam elements are interspersed with dry oak spices, cigar box, dried sweet herb and pencil lead. This full-bodied Cabernet has power and depth of flavour and is wonderfully succulent. A firm powdery tannin has a heft of extract from the hot year appears to have enough flesh to balance out. Somewhat spicy and oaky up front, there is baked black fruit galore that should all integrate with time. Great concentration of …

Deep purple-black to rim. Distinct aromas of super-ripe black fruits, cassis, Creme Fraiche, blackberry compote, tobacco, sweet vanilla spice, and oak. A full-bodied wine with a supple texture and vibrant acidity. There is a coolness to the wine that works with the very ripe, bright (high altitude) fruit profile. Fleshy, with bags of oak spices alongside good fruit concentration, the wine has plenty of material and a real depth of flavour - a good expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. The tannins …

Coming into its own now I think. Layer of cedar, even pine, wrapped in a cocoon of luscious dark red fruits. My only complaint was the lack of real length on the finish but nevertheless very impressive.

Deep ruby red There are plenty of sweet black fruits on the nose with cassis, spicy oak, tobacco, vanilla ice cream with a blackcurrant coulis! Very ripe fruits! A full-bodied, bold wine that displays a significant concentration of flavour and quite a bit of oak. A very accomodating/ambitious, plush textured wine focused on ripe black fruits underpinned by surprisingly lively acidity and finished with sweet yet puckering tannins. Whilst New World in gait, it is also very much in line …

Still full of gentle tannins, very smoothe and full bodied. Long finish. I bought a lot of 12 bottles and ony two was peaked or of low quality, the remainings were excellent. Unfortunately this was my last bottle.

Great nose. Still good tannins, opened up after an hour in the bottle. Cherry and some small string of liqourice. Long and balances finish.

Final bottle of a wonderful half case and now this wine is beginning to show its age. It never was a wine with a great tannic structure but now all there is in the palate is fading fruit and a hint of ribena sweetness with insufficient acidity. If you have any left, then I strongly advise drinking sooner rather than later.

As often with this almost unique winery, it is the purity of the fruit that shines. Not perhaps the greatest complexity but just enough tannin, acidity and alcohol to keep the plum and cassis mixture from just being fruit juice a lovely wine with spring lamb

More fresh than the 2004 tasted on the same evening - the fruit was lovely but what really impressed me was the unctuous texture with the silky smooth tannins and the long finish - one glass was savoured 24 hours later and whilst it had lost some of its power it was still really good and complex. Another great success from this winery
