Well made Mencia, although perhaps a little restrained on the palate.

Pombeiras is the coolest climate single site. 70-year-old vines planted on granite and quartz. Fermented in large 20-year-old 'Cuba' French oak with 10% stems, all whole bunches, for 60 days, then aged 10 months in 5-year-old 500l French barrels. Pombeiras means 'pigeons'. 800 bottles produced in 2021. 80% Mencia / 20% Local varieties (Caiño, Sousón, Merenzao, Brancellao). Spicy. Earthy. Dark fruit. Bit of florals. Nice texture coming through on the finish. Light and elegant. Day 2 update, and there is …

Light color, really nice acidity and light texture. A little funky with sour cherry and cranberry, a really enjoyable wine that leans towards fresh, vibrant, quality red fruit.

Bright strawberry and cherry, a little honey, and pepper on the nose. Very jammy (mixed berry), a little bit of bright herbs, and slight pepper on the palate. Medium body with a round mouthfeel which makes it delicious and enjoyable anytime. Finishes dry but with a touch of a fruity aftertaste!

Medium ruby. Black cherry and barnyard on the nose. In the mouth, fruity black cherry, sour cherry, pomegranate on entry. Moderate acidity, iodine salt mid, light-med body. It's relatively salty and relatively low tannin so it carries more of a saline slippery quality than tannic grip. Mouthwatering finish. The bright core of fruit carries throughout. A bit cherry cough syrup, but very enjoyable.

Clear medium ruby purple. Light crushed berry aromas. Nice juicy acidity, just a hint of a medicinal (almost menthol) finish could make this a bit tiresome. Light and easy

This was open for a while already, and (apparently) just started to show a bit. On the nose still quite muted, in the mouth this showed round blue fruit and some earthy notes. Nice wine.

There is a lovely mineral tension to the nose as it really opens up into savory and dark red fruited tones of dark red cherries, raspberries, crushed violets, a touch of VA(in a pleasing way), dark plums, spice notes, leather, earth, and a touch of mushroom. The Medium bodied feel is deft and silky with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium tannins. I was a bit worried even as I ordered this as Guimaro has a bad history with corked …

Wild cherry, pomegranate. Light and elegant. Not at all what I expected. A …

The Real Wine Fair 2013 (Tobacco Dock, Wapping) : Aromas of spicy oak. Slightly darker fruit profile. Good but drying finish. 16.5/20.
