Drinking absolutely perfectly. Enough tannins remain to cellar a bit longer. Sounds cliche, but seriously a nose of leather and smoked meat. Silky smooth, well integrated, outstanding finish. Moderate sediment. Sadly my last bottle.

On the nose, this showed saddle leather and a bit of meaty funk - very little fruit or classic Barolo character. Even after decanting (which is recommended - both for aeration and because of lots of sediment) the funk remained. Mature Barolo, drinking well now. Aromas of tar and roses, leather, bacon, soy, and various tertiary notes. Palate is rich, with lots of soy, red fruits, cranberry, smoke, tar, classic Nebbiolo. Some sediment, but tannins still abundant and sweet. 10 years and more to go!

I do not drink a lot of Barolo, but that might change. A funky barnyard nose concealed the lovely fruit found on the palate. Still lively acidity and impressive depth buoyed by ample tannins. Dinner at Ristorante Firenze (Norcross, GA) : We were told this received a 24 hour decant. Pretty crimson core with onion skin rim; aged nose, red cherry, rose, deep, 2nd best nose thus far, sexy, elegant, sandalwood, old school style; roasted, tons of red fruit, classic, some balsamic on the finish; very good.

decanted for about 5 hours. great nose of coffee, some gaminess, wet earth, raisin, leather, and black cherry on the palate savory wild game, iron, wet forest floor, mushroom, and bacon fat big acidity, soft tannins, and very long finish. great structure and balance. so glad i have 3 more!

This wine started out exactly as my note from 3 years ago details. However, as it's been open for 3 hours it has softened and all of those poopy aromas have dissipated. Drank this wine at the beginning of August. Incredibly austere and mineral. Tasted like a bag of rocks. Seems to need lots more time in the bottle. Hard to know what this would pair with, given how underdeveloped it seems.

Decanted one hour. Definitely some funky aromas present, but they're quite nice. Someone else said like riding a horse on a rainy day. In fact, taking it a step further, it's a horse running through some wet hay while defecating, but the horse ate some cherries beforehand. Left in open bottle for about 1 1/2 hours before drinking. Nose was rich and thick from the bottle, but thinned out once poured. Good fruit on the palate although a bit lean for my taste. Brown on the rim gaining good color toward the middle. Mildly acidic with a short to midterm finish.

Well developed nose with floral notes supported by tight acids, fine crushed rocks, mushrooms and blackberries. The wine was still a bit tannic at first but the fruits were very forward after about 1/2 hour in the glass. A nice orange, brown color had developed but this showed no sign of slowing down, it still could go a few more years since the firm backbone was evident all the way through. Not a stunning bottle but subtle and enjoyable.
