Viña Cono Sur Sauvignon Blanc 20 Barrels

Some dried black fruit on nose...clean and concentrated on palate with no noticeable greenness....slight oxidative, liqueured note...some new wood shows through....

Crimson-purple; intense black currants, blueberries, blackberries, wet stones; cassis, plummy, silky, medium-full body, good structure, good acidity, firm ripe tannins, lingering finish. Concentrated, spicy, berry flavour with well-balanced acid, grip and finish. Good varietal character unlike many jammy Chilean cabs. Will buy again.

Appearance: Bright and clear, with opaque ruby color, paler rims and legs. Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity nose of blackcurrant, blackberry, plum, liquorice, cloves, tobacco leaf, smoke and earth, showing developing characters. Palate: Dry with medium (+) and lively acidity, medium (+) tannin of ripe and grippy texture, the wine has medium (+) alcohol and medium (+) body, showing medium intensity flavors of blackberry, blackcurrant, liquorice, black pepper and chocolate, finishing with medium length. Exceptionally green Sauvignon Blanc and almost Riesling fizziness.

Blackcurrant and sour cherry on the nose with full, rich pallette. It's s nice everyday Cabernet Sauvignon but just no charcterisitc to make it stand out. I'd much rather spend my money in this price zone exploring other wines yet untried rather than pay for predictability....as nice this is.
