Perhaps more barossa than it is cabernet, this is nevertheless a pretty pleasant SA red with ripe blackberry and plum flavours and a fairly plush mouthfeel. Decent freshness. For £13 this is good value.

89+ 95% CS, 2% merlot, 2% malbec, 1% PV I got it for $13 due to damaged label, but a decent under $20 CS. NOT an oak bomb, medium bodied

Deep purple colored; nose of deeply perfumed Cabernet cassis, licorice, just hints of red bell pepper; palate is juicy, mercifully more on the dry side than the drippy sweet stuff you too often get at this price point. Eminently drinkable here in its youth though I think it should age and soften out a bit over years. Excellent for $18.99 at Costco. 90+

Enjoyed this quite a bit and think it will just get better with time.

Really enjoyed this. Well-balanced, good with food. Used a Rabbit aerator for the first pours. I’ll take it over Conundrum or Caymus.

Kind of a bland easy drinking wine with no great structure or memorable characteristics Expected much more from this producer.

Could benefit from another year to two, but opened up after an hour or so with ripe fruit and dusty tannins. Medium length finish.

This was so good for the price and age. It should be cellared for a couple of years but was a gift from Isa for steak night. Lots of red fruit up front.

This wine always delivers and the 2020 is par for the course. Dark fruit, cassis, conifer, and a whiff of smoke. Nice density and volume, with a nice texture and a plump, tasty finish.

Not convinced by this one. Decent enough for a restaurant purchase I suppose?

Alexander Valley, along with Paso Robles are my two favorite California areas for Cabernet that tends to focus on the red fruit spectrum over the dark. Alexander Valley Vineyards Cabernet has consistently provided well conceived and relatively affordable of this style for decades. This 2020 does not disappoint. Probably at least 2 years too young to have opened, but some heavy swirling gets things going. Really dark, but not super opaque purple color with a beautiful magenta rim. Plenty of …

Much better after a few days. I had this at the tasting room and enjoyed it. Bought a bottle, popped and poured it at home a few weeks later, and didn't care for it at all! Screwed the cap back on and let it sit 2 days, and it was much better that night and subsequent evenings. Rating reflects score after the 3rd day.

Deep purple in colour. Cassis, mocha, black olives, farmyard, cloves. Well balanced, juicy and with some elegance. I have growing fond of Alexander Valley. Good wine to pair with food!

Pretty restrained. Not a whole bunch of fruit, but shows lots of black olive and minerality. The acid keeps blueberries lifted on the palate, which then yields to supple tannins and a pencil lead finish.
