Fully developed now and is drinking beautiful although like all Bass Phillip, it needs air so decanting is essential. A full body pinot, it has lost much of its youth and is very happy in its mid-life. Savoury, dusty and dark cherry nose, the body follows more or less the same line. Literally the first New World pinot I have enjoyed that has a discernibly enjoyable different voice from the great Burgundian model. Highly overpriced at a restaurant in Sydney, this bottle has a very dense ruby/blood red color, and a silky mellifluousness matched by a Vosne-like berry profile, though with a Gevrey/Savigny mouth feel. Vanilla and cherry nose, quite bright, not as dirty as I remember previous vintages. Clean front pallet and well balanced with more berries and smoothe finish. Nice entry level Pinot. Has years to go if you wanted to cellar for 5.

Shows stronger red fruit notes than other vintages of this wine (2011-2013). Notes of red cherry, raspberry, dry leaves, with strong alcohol adding hints of white rum and raspberry eau de vie. Palate is acid-dominant, sour, and astringent, with flavours of maraschino cherry, cranberry, and red cherry. There are emerging floral notes (violet, lavender) and some oxidation.

The Crown Prince is considered the entry level wine to the Bass Phillip range, however the 2010 is punching well above its weight with a funky burgundian like nose of dusty cherry and savoury plum fruits. The palate is textural yet restrained, building slowly across the journey. What I like about this wine is the amount of flavour this wine achieves on such a light body. Fantastic complexity, too. Dusty, mulchy, barnyard and sour red fruit nose. Slightly fizzy acidity. Intense, yet not overwhelming flavours. Long, slightly acidic that builds in complexity, all of the above featuring. Very Burgundian (better 1er Cru-level.) A joy to drink, match with food or cellar for, maybe, a decade. Great!

30 minute decant. Translucent ruby with a watery rim. Floral nose with peppermint freshness and candied cherries. Nice fruit up front white plums, sour cherries, developing medium acidity mid palate through to a medium savoury finish, mouth cleansing freshness and juiciness.

10x20 Victorian Tasting (Customs House, Sydney, Australia) : Cherry, some bramble and just a slight earthy note. The palate shows some tasty and supple red fruits while maintaining a savoury edge. Approachable and drinking nicely already.

10x20 Years Victorian Tasting (Custom House, Circular Quay, Sydney) : Unfiltered by appearance. Balanced but simple. Long finish carries raspberry, slight earth tones and mouth watering acidity and mouth filling body. Nice, good in fact.
