Nice garnet / brick color. PnP nose freshly fallen leaves on musty loam; cedar and tobacco notes. First taste is bright red fruit, plums with an almost cotton candy taste, rather overpowering at first. Definitely needs to sit for a few minutes. After a couple of hours, I get cigar box and jammy red fruit compote from the nose and well-balanced red fruit tannins on the palate.

Still drinking great. Plenty of red fruits. Delicious and disappearing in the glass quickly.

Wow, it took ten long years to get here. Consumed over two days, this wine is really in a good spot right now, too bad this is my last bottle. Comparable to the finest Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir; think Marcassin quality at a fraction of the cost. Bright red fruit aromas with a hint of redwood forest floor. Flavors of cartelized bing cherry with a long finish. I wish I had more to see what additional aging would do.

Really much nicer on day #2. Some nice dark cherry fruit with spiciness and twiggy notes. Nice acidity.

Juicy! Pop and pour. Tannins resolved. Rich & opulent. Ripe boysenberry some blueberry. Velvety texture. Slight acidic lift and grip on finish. Mid-palate bit woodsy but mostly just rich fruit. Drink now! Do not see any improvement...

Color is a bit oxidized, but didn't hinder the wonderful flavors of this wine.

Much better than the last bottle, and better than the Williams Selyem Ferrington bottling. Maybe something flawed in last bottle.

Wine was properly stored from purchase upon release at winery until consumed. Fresh, fruity, lovely bouquet, well balanced.

Not a very distinctive wine. Will not buy more. Its a brick with very little redeeming qualities. It does taste like pinot, but only in a passing way.

Decent pinot finish a bit disjointed which holds the score back for me. Agree with other notes that nose has some intitial funk that blew off pretty quickly.

Super earthy, dirty funk on the nose at first, lots of stem at first taste. Decided to go ahead and decant it just in case. Lots of sediment. Didn't improve straight away, after sitting for 20 minutes it improved dramatically. Peppery nose, vanilla finish. Whew...almost poured this out, very glad we gave it some time. Not used to having to do that with the MacPhails, which are normally really good right out of the bottle.

Opened not decanted. Throwing some sediment and showing hotter than I remember. Citrus, candy and cherry cola on the nose. Citrus dominates on the palate; ends with a drying cherry orange finish. Good.

Opened not decanted. Really lovely wine with dark, saturated black cherry notes; medium weight; ends with orange and tangerine notes. Very Good.

Pop and pour. After a weekend of restaurant Pinots (for $50-100 each), this is a gem.

Slightly cloudy with medium dark ruby color. Very fruit forward, almost syrupy sweet body with dense black cherry flavor. Seems a bit over-extracted at this point. Maybe it will improve as the fruit softens with time.

A sweet approach on the nose with noticeable cinnamon augmented by an earthy florals. On the palate, very approachable. Big fruit with nicely balanced acidity. A bit of a resinous character gives the finish length. There are times I prefer something a bit more focused, precise and nimble, but I was in the mood for something exactly like this tonight.

Pinot Days 2011 (Navy Pier - Chicago, IL) : Oh my goodness. What a terrible start to the day. Luckily, these wines were my least favorite tasted - and I don't think it's because they were the first to be honest. Harsh, tinny. Thin abrasive. Pass at all costs. What happened here? Weird bottle? Consistent with two tastes. Sorry guys, just being fair to myself and the CT community.

nose - opened up considerably with several hours of air thus leading me to believe this wine will improve with a few more years of bottle age. back to the nose. nose - spicy blackberry, blueberry, root beer, cola, baking spice and flowers. fragrant. mouth - juicy red and dark fruit intermixed, with long drawn out acidity. complex brambly fruit with considerable sap and extract. This wine makes you pay attention, and leaves a domineering acidic smack, which i hope …

Very fresh red berry aromas and flavors. Needs more time to integrate in the bottle, but by spring it should be nicely balanced. At this time, it's got very high, tart acidity. - Tasted at winery 12/29/10
