Chateau La Louviere, Blanc, Pessac-Leognan

Screwcap, petrol nose. Deep golden color. Still youthful with good acidity and vibrant flavors. The screwcap helped to preserve the freshness I think as this seemed possibly new world and definitely younger than 17. Long drinking window is open.

Clearly a Sauvignon Blanc driven wine (85%) with its earthy, grassy character. Very much melded and classy. Lingering finish. 90+

Labor Day Party : PopnPour, tasted over 1 hr, under screwcap -translucent light gold -aromatic waxy grassy funky butterscotch oak -med acidity, med- weight, med depth, good complexity with slight grass bitter waxy lanolin mature element lemon, decent finish -quite good, drinking well now with some maturity

Dry with a noticeable waxy character, as expected from the semillon component. The white fruits, whilst slightly diminished is still fresh, and there are caramel and honeysuckle notes developing. Drinking well at the moment.

A fine showing here still. There's been a little bit of bottle variation even with the integrity of a screw cap (and one badly reduced bottle), but this is still a solid wine with freshness and concentration. Tarragon and mineral highlight the citrus profile. There is what appears to be a dollop of wood, but I think it is more the nutty savoriness of maturity more than barrel.

This bottle was either past prime or closed. Color was light gold. Oaky, somewhat unbalanced palate with slightly bitter finish.I will wait one more year to finish my las bottle and hope for the best.

Hay colored/light gold. Becomes more ethereal after 15-30 minutes in glass. Drinking so well now with light foods. Might improve short term. Drink now-2015.

Still light gold color. Oak and acidity have integrated, but citrus is mostly gone, too, and there's a slightly bitter finish Very nice to start a dinner or have with lunch. But I will try to drink my others over next 6 months.

Another great showing. Paired against a crab salad, though likely a better pairing with straight salad rather than seafood. Lithe, crystalline in the glass, a touch flinty. Great QPR and great ambassador for drinking white Bdx. True food wine, juicy acidity. By no means a blockbuster, rather the kind of wine to have in the cellar to kick off a special meal. Won't be the superstar, but gets the party started. Could age a bit more, but no need.

Light to medium gold. Much more integrated, but still lively. Lemon citrus, hint of cut grass and oak. At peak now and over next 12 months.

This bottle was clear light gold, even though it was almost 8 years old. More oak than citrus on palate. May be in awkward stage needing 6 months, or else may be past peak, depending on your palate.

Light gold with distinct green glimmers. Citrus and a very little oak on nose. Palate is full and round with some lingering acidity. Very close to peak. Should be perfect Summer 2013. Drink by end 2014.

Same as 11/4/12 note, but can still improve. Better in 6-8 months, and should drink well for another year or two after that. Terriific ABC wine, especially with Greek/Turkish food.

Mid-intense tropical leaning fruit on the nose with notes of pineapple, honeydew and passionfruit. Some lime, wool, honey, slight green vegetality, creamy oak and maccadamia. Medium bodied palate of crispy enough acidity, oily to greasy texture, proportined fruit and nicely integrated oak framework. Hints of both honeyed richness as well as something green and grassy. Good length. Paired well with some fried salmon. Altogether rather nice and in good drinking condition.

Good (per other, earlier, reviews), but showing its age. Earthy tones but still has good depth. I think it's a little past its prime.

Much improved since one year ago. Light gold in glass. Bright complex nose. Medium bodied, almost completely integrated palate of gooseberry and lemon with slight grassy component. Drink now-2015.

Delicious - light straw colour, nice apple aroma, good well balanced apple, lemon fruit. Very nice.

Medium yellow color. Aromas of lemon, resin, and a hint of Pine-Sol. Palate has candied lemon and hints of pine tar with an integrated wood element that shows some vanilla notes. The finish is medium. This has integrated nicely and is a lightweight wine with some versatility. Drink or hold.

85% Sauvignon, 15% Semillon...clear yellow, green tinge color....very intriguing nose....smoky, flinty, almost gas rag-like...minerals, peaches, apples, lemons, cold green beans.....I LOVE the nose! The palate is not as exciting...a little thin, short tart finish.....nice crisp citrus, funky minerals, some of that smoky flint and gas rag, buttered green apples, honeysuckle. BUT, for my tastes...at $9.99...this is a steal!! It gives me a crisp refreshing, screw cap fresh, white wine...with funky French minerality and terroir....that's more interesting than most domestics...at killer …

Largely mineral and herb-driven nose. Palate opens up to show a mixture of pear, citrus, and tarragon. Acidity drives the medium finish to complement the fat texture of the midpalate. Transitory. The finish can be slightly awkward as a cocktail wine, but drinks beautifully at the table and begs to take another sip.

Straw yellow with medium viscosity in the glass. Rich, complex nose of citrus (grapefruit), grass, vanilla and wet stone. Secondary chalk, pepper and Summer fruit. Full body on the palate with tart grapefruit, lime, herbs and slate minerality. Hints of Summer fruit, carmel and grass. Dry and structured with a puckery, lingering finish. Intriguing and delicious. Really good, a crowd pleaser. Bright refreshing acidity, grassy notes, light on the palate. Goat cheese's best friend. Perfect bottle to the start the evening. Wish I had more than just one other. Has the ability to go for another 3+ yrs.

Straw in color and a strong grapefruit aromas. Medium acidity, very long finish. Flinty and citric (lemon, grapefruit) flavors abound leading to a long finish.

God bless the screwcap. This wine, despite being 6 years old, tastes like it was just bottled. Tasted at cellar temperature, the nose has lemon, oak and herbs. The flavor is not as acidic as I expected, but it has a great mouthfeel overall. Smooth with a little kick on the finish, it's got butter, honey, lemon, lime and a bit of peach. The slightly acid finish lasts a good minute or so. Not too bad overall. Sad I only …

Great nose of cut grass, lemon, thyme and white pepper - grapefruit and chalk in a citrusy mouth with a hint of honey and vanilla. Crisp, minerally finish considering the relatively heavy mouth weight. Quite complex for $25 - strong disagree with those who rate this below 90.

Paired very well with a chilled pea salad and feta. Unique wine for me, combining flavors of asparagas, mineral and rubber, completley differnt form any loire or new world SB I've had, the semillion seemed to add a slight creme note, very good and unique experience.

Intens and complex nose with hints of grapefruit and marsipan. Palate reveals nicely integrated wood and nice spicy and grassy tones with a good finish. Could maybe use a little more acidity for freshness.

Expressive bouquet with flowers and sweet candy. A bit of candy also in the taste. Fairly light bodied, which is a surprise in this vintage. Overall a bit too easy going. Maybe it will be better in the future.

Fig, skunkiness maybe just a tad of citrus with some pretty high acidity. Probably could be had for around $10-12 in California, New Zealand or Washington State but for a Frenchie, not bad. I worry about bret because of that skunkiness.
