Dark transparent red --- Nose red fruit, sour cherry, some almond and some spicy aspects, hint of elegant wood notes, some charcoal, some tire, some glue --- Palate fresh, vivid, nice medium strong acidity, watery, red fruited, cherries, red currant, some blackberries, bitter chocolate notes --- Finishes pretty long fruity and mineral aspects, mouthwatering, fresh and animating. Nice piece of vine, matured while still tasting young, tasty.

With a bit of age, this is a lovely wine. Rich cherry juice and floral notes, along with dark earth. Velvety and soft now, medium weight and long finish. Went well with beet and goat cheese pasta, showing some versatility.

Didn't read my notes before drinking. My daughter was here; so I popped and drank. I have a little left so will try tomorrow night to see if it improves with some airing. Still a good bottle.

Pnp with pasta at home. Perfect cork with only the very bottom soaked. Medium garnet with no browning. This starts very shy to the extent one wonders if the wine is past. With more air it opens up a bit but remains a “quiet” wine not showing any of the heat or oxidation 2007 Sangiovese can reveal already today. Subtle but refined notes of dark berries and earth, well integrated acidity providing freshness. Tannins are perfectly resolved as well. Middle …

The notes on this wine is so so. I think it deserves good notes though. It has a warm moth full of red fruit with a good tannin structure. The finish is long and very pleasant blackberry and woody notes come through. I feel it is a good QPR.

Lovely acid structure which are often present in Italian Sangiovese wines, which shows especially pleasant at lower temperatures (15-17°C). The age is beginning to show with muted fruits. Unfortunately it hasn't developed too much else with age, which does leave it a bit lacking complexity. When eating with too strong flavours it disappears, so drinking it with meat isn't recommended.

Farven meget flot dyb rød. Mere rubin end granat. Slet ikke blå. Meget skinnende. Duften pæn åben meget urter, lidt mørk frugt, men også tydeliig sangiovese, Tydelig stald. God kompleksitet. Også lidt modne noter.Lækker. Smagen lidt syrlig og med en tydelig bitterhed. Mangler frugt og virker som om den er tørret noget ud. Mørk i udtrykket. Mangler frugt. Der er meget tørstof i den og den fylder hele munden ud. Har både frugtsyre og tannin. Meget lang eftersmag. Havde virkelig …

The wine is okay. Like a €13 value Bordeaux. Some nice red fruit and cedar. Don’t know if I opened it too early or too late but it’s somewhat of a disappointment. And it’s probably the last time I’ll look at a James Suckling score (rated this 92-94p).

An unintended evening wine as it fell over in the cellar and broke - sadly, only salvaged half a glass! Bouquet of worn leather, brown spices, undergrowth and roasted herbs. On further nosing, there is salted liquorice and warmed/tinned cherries. A lifted entry, this full-bodied wine is precise, intense and focused. Whilst a touch of cola/charcoal suggest age, the wine still exudes dark 85% chocolate, plenty of sour red cherry, black plum and coffee grinds. A fairly densely structured wine, …

Color: deep ruby Nose: plum, earth, mushroom Taste: plum, cassis, anise, cedar There is still much fruit upfront well integrated into secondary flavors of cassis, anise and vanilla. The age has made this wine smooth without any heat. Tannins linger long enough to be delightful. This could continue to evolve but is drinking well now.

{organically farmed} A good value, as always, this offers a brightness of character, with well-placed notes of soil/forest/place. It took its time opening up, but with the purity and and structure at the moment, it's likely got some room to improve. recommended http://www.italianwine.blog

Beautiful red fruit aromas and a hint of spice. At this stage, 14 years after the vintage, the tannins are soft and supple. The acidity is balanced with the tannins and fruit. Very enjoyable and worth every penny of the $30 I spent on release. Paired excellently with a homemade bolognese and pasta.

Mid garnet to tawny rim Bright perfumed aromas of macerated red fruits, pencil lead, crushed rock and cola tonic. Plenty of ripe red berries on the entry with red plums, baked cherry pie. Soft and approachable out of the blocks change to a more mineral grippy texture with rock dust and grippy tannins set on fresh acidity. The wine has a lovely delineation and poise that is filled with plenty of more baked fruits, sour plums, and black olive. It …

Interestingly this bottle showed much fresher than the previous one, although it has matured a bit longer. Also the color seems to show a younger wine. I read more about bottle variation in other notes and this is another example of that. And a positive one! Medium ruby color with no hints of amber at the rim yet. Full aromas of ripe blackcurrant, blueberry and some liquorice and dried herbs. Full bodied with smooth, integrated, tannins and balanced ripe fruit …

Dark Ruby. Sour cherry, vanilla and...burned rubber(?). Herbal. Mid-weight palate with good acidity and fine, slightly dusty tannins. Meduim length aftertaste. Okay, but I have come to expect more from this producer. It wouldn't hurt to hold this bottle for a few years, but I am not at all convinced it will help, either. 7/17/23 - Here we are 2 1/2 years later and after trying another bottle...my opinion really hasn't changed much. First 2007 Torrione that I've tried since early 2012. Give this at least 2 hours of air. At around the 4 hour mark, this was at its very best. Full-bodied and plush in texture for a Torrione - clearly from a hotter vintage. Even so, the energy, purity and layered depth of the fruit here is truly remarkable. So much ripe, sweet, delicious cherry, raspberry and strawberry fruit, perfectly matched to a lively acidity. Shows phenomenal depth on the mid-palate …

Simply delicious. Drank over 5 hours and it is gaining energy and expressiveness until the very last drop. Full of energy, very fresh, even youthful still. Wonderful bouquet, balance, and texture. Two merlot blends tonight: one cab franc heavy and this sangiovese heavy. Reminded my what a great blending wine merlot can be, adding a core of cherries and earthy coffee notes to ground other favorite varietals. This was such a delight on it's own so I recommend trying it that way after a quick vigorous decant. Drink over the next few years -2021.

What a disappointment. Torrione is one of my favorite wine but this vintage is really not up to standard. In other years, it’s a wine that has brunello di montalcino quality, this year, it tastes like a chianti normale. I will try another bottle soon to see if it’s just a bad one.
