Brought this to Burlamacco Ristorante (East Coast) for dinner with my wine mates. Theme of the evening: Wines from Chris Ringland. Bottle was decanted for 6 hours prior to consumption. Tasting this wine is like revisiting a familiar old friend. Purplish red in colour with a sharp nose, filled it mouldy, musky old stuff. Dried tea with black coffee, coupled with dried raisins. The spices are less pronounced and prominent. Some cream and vanilla in the finish.

Very strong barossa complementing its 17.2% alcohol. Jammy fruits and chocolate spice gives this a loong finish

Appearance: Bright and clear, it has deep ruby color, with fading rims and legs. Nose: Clean, with pronounced intensity aromas of black fruit of blackcurrant, plum, bramble and bilberry, animal notes of meat, maturity notes of savory, pungent spice of licorice, oak notes of toast, kernel notes of chocolate. The wine is developing. Palate: Dry with medium acidity, medium (+) tannin of ripe and silky texture, the wine has high alcohol and medium body, showing pronounced intensity flavors of black …

You have to admire Chris Ringland's winemaking skills by not turning a 17.2% monster into a fortified wine. Super bold and rich Aussie shraiz with palate similar to previous two commenters. It's a matter of taste whether you like this flamboyant, forward style of wine. But if you do, Chris's wine will never disappoint you.

Dark & intense red with vivid crimson hues. Big nose, deep & concentrated, plenty of ripe black fruits, blackberry, blueberry, prune, dark plum, sweet licorice, chocolate and roasted coffee notes. There is some sense of elegant with smoke and barnyard. Smooth with a richly entry, it seems to have mellowed down over the years, showing sweet ripe fruits core along with blackberry, dark plum, espresso & subtle toasted oak. It has a sweet pruney, raisin taste, very ripe and soft. …

Drank this with my wine mates at a causal session on a Thursday afternoon. Bright purple with a creamy, vanilla nose with hints of chocolate. On the palate the wine is powerful with a big structure. Red ripe fruits with an astonishing finish.
