Decanted 1 hour. Upon decanting rich pleasurable purple hue. Fragrant aroma of purple flowers. Initial pour shows balanced legs, big clean cherry nose. Flavor of figs, big heavy cherries w/exceptional finish. Excellent with Paella

Beautiful purple almost Burgundian. Compelling aromas with saddle leather and mixed berries. Pure and really clean entry, zippy acids add great balance to the blue and black fruits. Long and even finish with a little kick. Outstanding especially for $25.

2 months ago I left it too long for airing & it deteriorated. This time... I avoided this mistake. Nice wine, but definitely not my cup of tea🥺 Nice color, bright dark ruby red with shades of purple👍 Medium tobody. High acidity. Well felt tanines. OK structure but I prefer smoother and more balanced wines🥺 Mildly plus aromatic. Barrels, red and black fruits, spices, terroir. On the palate, mainly plum, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, pepper, licorice, vanilla, oak, leather, stone. Nice …

Full body, deep purply colour, 14% abv. Elegant aroma of black and blue fruits, liquorice and herbal notes. On the palate predominantly blackberry, wild berries' acidity, silky tannins and rounding finish of good length. Rich and bold, complex enough and balanced wine. Food friendly, well pairing to spicy eggplant stew. Open two hours ahead. Serve 16ºC - 20ºC. Drink now while young and the next six years.

Excellent qpr. I think this just needs a bit of time - basic elements are there and in balance - depth of fruit, acidity, also slight herbiness.

Deep purple color. Blackberry, black raspberry, vanilla, char, toast, black plum, lavender, violet, fresh soil, dusty road, black licorice, menthol, baking spice, walnut. Tannin: M+, fine-grained. Acid: M+. 12 months in oak, but not stated if any is new oak. Leaning a little to the fresh / jammy side, but still nice.

Very light an drinkable for a temperinllo. Medium plus body, red fruits, light tannins. Light an dpleasant spiciness youd expect from a Spanish red when paired with meats seasoned with black pepper. Had ours with a juicy ribeye and it was a great pairing.

Rioja (K&L Wine Merchant - San Francisco) : N: A really gentle neon berry note (very nice, it’s not turned up to 1000% like you would usually get from a varietal in the new world). Small, concentrated strawberries with a dark ripeness and earthiness. P: Autumn leaves, lighter cranberry skins, minerals on the tail end. A bit flat and simple for me. Loved the aromas, though.

Tasted at Oinoscent during service, courtesy of a customer The wine is very fresh, ripe blue fruit, berries, floral notes, violet, nice oak frame, welcoming. Palate very smooth (for its age), medium to full body, herbal bitterness, medium tannins, medium to high acidity, alcohol heat, medium finish

Decanted for about an hour. Dark red colored, slight amount of light browning on the edges, otherwise looks relatively young. In contrast to some other tasting notes, the nose was fairly muted, I picked up some faint red fruits and that was about it. Much more powerful on the palate, lots of black cherry, red currant, cedar, pipe tobacco, and spice. The palate has a nice level of intensity and juiciness with plenty of acidity, but it’s still pretty tannic. …

Cork was a bit tight, but got it out eventually. Fill is perfect; bought this on release, and it has been stored professionally since then. Color is a beautiful ruby garnet with a bit of amber at the edges. Apparently this is 100% old vine Tempranillo. This really has a delicious fragrance that is deep and complex; aromatics of raspberries, baking spices, sweet fragrant leather and green tobacco, crushed dried flowers, hint of cassis, warm loam and crushed rocks all …

Hazy notes from last week. I tasted a bottle about 8 years ago, and it was extremely tight and tannic. I'm glad I waited. This was more powerful than I had remembered, with considerable concentration and depth, with mainly red fruit flavours and no American oak flavours. Quite a modern style of Rioja, but quite tasty at the moment; there are still tannins, which increased with air, but it is finally getting ready to drink. It still has time to …

On a multi-night Thanksgiving where I opened hit after hit of great QPR wines, this one stole the show. I was shocked that a <$20 Rioja from the 2003 vintage would still be so exuberant and fresh. There was a slight funk when first opened, but that quickly blew off. And the bottle continued to evolve over the course of several hours. And never felt tired. The fact that this is a 2003 that has no signs of heat or …

One of my favorite Bodega. Deep colour, big tears. M+ Ripe cherry, red berry, plum, blue berry, some black berries, floral and perfumed, nicely balanced liquorice and clove, menthol, parsley, hint of thyme and black pepper, and smoky notes. The SO2 seems to be quite high (which gives you some punched nose sensation) but no reductive aroma. On the palate the fruits are more conservative but fresher with hint of vanilla chocolate with pencil led! Rounded-ripe M tannin, high alcohol, …

Ruby red. Nice nose, this has lots of red fruit, tobacco, raspberry and strawberry jam flavors with a beautiful long finish. Clearly not too old and has lasted longer than predicted. The red fruit is still fresh and young. Did do well with PNP, but added complexity with 2 to 3 hours of air time. With the entry level this good it does make me want to seek out more and also try the higher level wines.

I still don't consider this quite mature. Coffee-like tannins linger on the finish, suggesting it's still got some aging left in it. The fruit is strong with a very good acid backbone. Drinking pretty well now, but I recommend leaving it in the cellar a couple more years.

Didn't think much of this on the open, but really warmed up to it over time. Definitely iron/mineral notes on the nose, with more black plum on the palate. Almost Gigondas/Vacquerays-like. Warm, but not showing obvious alcohol. Enjoyable if you have low expectations, but as other have said, drink up!

I agree with other posters that it's fully mature, but I find it still enjoyable. There's not a ton of fruit, and some heat is poking through not unlike an Aussie Shiraz, but there's still enough going on to be quite pleasurable. Drink 'em up, however...

Six years in my cellar was maybe a bit too long. Fruit has faded while metallic and mineral notes have emerged. Nose is very muted. The palate is slightly astringent. Scorched earth and plum highlight the finish along with ample tannins. But the color is remarkably fresh without any hint of ageing. Alcohol is high and noticable. Maybe this wine is actually too young. Last one so I'll leave it to other tasters to discover that.

After last night's wine, this one was very simplistic. Falls into the Old World category, with hints of mineral, pencil shavings. Good with food, but unexciting as a sipper. It's light bodied, with fairly muted fruit and not much of a finish. Nothing really wrong with it, but nothing outstanding about it. There are better tempranillos out there.
