Excellent. I expected that this might not have lasted this long given it is a half bottle and had a period of poor storage. Very appetising aromas both savoury and a touch of sweetness. Wood, forest, mushroom, some high toned notes. Fruit still pretty forward but with great secondary complexity.

Powerful, complex nose with orange rind and earthy notes. A bit of mintiness. Big, strong fruit on the palate, good acidic balance, a bit too hot on the finish, but well balanced by the fruit and acidity. These have been getting better since purchasing in 2012. Should continue improving for a couple more years.

Nicely defined red berry fruit on the nose alongside some spices and a small lactic component. But there is also a second, much darker layer to the nose that shows more of the wines kinship with its bigger brother the Brunello. This layer which became more present on day 2, offers more earthier tones like leather, wet leaves as well as exotic woods and cardamon. On the palate it is a well structured wine with a precise red berry and …

This is a dark syrupy wine with aromas of dry powder suggesting mystery. It tastes full and powerful but is followed by a dull dark tannin which seems overcooked. Maybe it needs more time in the bottle.

I love this pizza/pasta wine. Light frisky and classy too. A funky whiff when I opened this one but swiftly blew off.

Nose of ripe red berries and a bit dusty... in the month, red berries, a bit short and dry finish

Deep cherry red; translucent. A nicely balanced wine - the fruit, acidity, and tannins are in perfect harmony. Red and black cherries, a whisp of cedar, and fine pipe tobacco in a very medium sized frame. My only quibble is the finish, which was bit short. This isn't one to lay down for the long haul...drink it over the next 2-3 years.

Robert Houde Wines Portfolio feat. Marc De Grazia selections (Ritz-Carlton, Chicago IL) : nose: real lovely and perfumed nose of red cherries, berries, red currants and some bits of roasted herbs taste: pretty medium body with nice supporting tannins and medium acidity with nice tones of red cherries, red currants, roasted herbs and some bits of spice overall: a really good rosso. Very good balance with a more feminine style on both the nose and palate

Yummy. With manchego arugla pasta. Clean pure not too fruity. Plenty of acid. Definite cinammon there too. Good now.

1999 vintage of this was the first Rosso di Montalcino I ever had and I've hardly had any Chianti since. This is just as good as I remember, deeper and more substantial fruit than the norm for Chianti but still pure and very true to the grape in flavor. Gets more interesting with a little cinnamon and earth as it takes on air.

Ruby. That bitter, dark chocolate taste is the first impression on the nose, followed by dark cherry fruit. On the palate it's sweet-sour dark cherry, cola and bitter chocolate. The palate seems rather old, perhaps surprisingly prematurely so. I don't think this is flawed, just not a wine for the long haul. Elegant, pleasant balance. Strawberry and herby notes on the medium finish.
