Decanted two hours; no sediment; deep garnet color. Aromas of cherries and blackberries. On the palate, full-bodied and juicy sour cherries with plush tannins and hints of black pepper. This is in its prime drinking period and should be good for several more years. At my $33 cost, an exceptionally good QPR. Worth at least twice that much.

Opened at dinner in Carmel. Lovely mature Brunello with leather, sage, balsamic notes and perfectly balanced. Soft tannins but still has 7-10 years of life left. Some dark cherry notes. Lovely wine. Bought in 2004.

Slow O'd for a few hours; decanted for a few more. Soft and supple; drinking perfectly now, but I can see this going strong for another decade, easy. Fine to drink now, but could improve with more time sideways.

Needs a bit of air. Very aged notes of leather and musty oak. Got a bit of blood orange too. This is good, but not memorable whatsoever. The fruits just couldn't balance out the secondary notes.

The wine is beautifully elegant, the tannins are softer than anticipated and gave myself a totally new perspective on subdued tannins. I would anticipate it will only gain on complexity the coming years, tannins will likely lose force now. The wine looks crimson colored. There is no sediment in the bottle. The body is medium. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity.

Brought to a local restaurant. Decanted tableside, consumed over 90 minutes. Note from memory. Just starting to show bricking around the edges. Lots of fruit left on this yet has loads of tertiary components as well. Dark cherry, rosemary, sage, leather and balsamic all interplay nicely. Love the freshness and acidity in this wine. It needed a solid two hour decant to open up, but once open, it was delicious. Lots of high toned red cherry fruit in this wine. Still very primary due to its youth.

Typical of Sangiovese, the colour is translucent, from violet on the inside to slightly brick red tones at the rim, suggesting aging of the wine. On the nose, a buttery sweetness of caramel. I’m always reluctant to rate at 95, so I downgraded a bit. This wine is fantastic! A medium bodied wine with enough tannin to hold its own against a filet but delicate enough to play nice with seared scallops. The bit of earthy leather intermingles with any mushroom accompaniment and the char on the beef. It is always tough to pick wine for a “surf & turf” type of meal but this sang beautifully!

Stewed fruits, blackberries, clove. I let this breath for about 30 minutes and still showed signs of life ahead. Very nice wine at 12 yrs aged (properly). Still has decent tannins, so has a few more years left to evolve. Very delicious wine!

Backup bottle to a flawed different wine. PnP, gave 15 minutes of air, followed one glass over 45+ minutes. Starting to brick on the edges this was slightly cloudy in the glass. Gambero Rosso Tasting (Doltone House, Sydney) : Caramel, toast, slightly green unripe notes with meaty, saline elements. Better on the palate though, juicy, a little more fruit generosity but there is a fair lick of alcohol land oak and that green underpin remains. Meh

Holidays 2021; 11/30/2021-1/2/2022 (Dogwood Grove, Arlington, VA) : A big hit and in a perfect drinking window. Wonderful nose of citrus, plums, and flowers, followed by a delicious palate with textbook Brunello flavors of smoky cherry, tobacco, and hints of balsamic.

Slow oxed for 6 hours then into a decanter. Extremely dark and a lovely nose of lavender, barnyard funk, cherries, smoke and honey. In the mouth really smooth and it’s velvetness envelopes you. The fruit shines thru and then a blast of tannins keep it all in balance and fresh. Lovely. Best bottle yet.

Fairly mature and nicely traditional. The pours fair dark at the core. Still friarly ruby with a touch of orange towards. The nose gently wafts dark cherry, leather, Rosemary, balsamic, and sautéed mushrooms. The palate has lush dark cherry fruit, with lovely elevated acid and fading tannin. Medium finish. Lovely wine.

3rd time I have had this wine. Decanted 2 hours before drinking. Took this to Tello's Bistro in South Haven, Michigan. Corkage was waived. This wine has lost something in the 5 years since I last had it. I attribute it to bottle variation. The tannins were softer and the fruit was more restrained. 87 points.

Very enjoyable again. Needs to be opened at least four hours before drinking, due to the firm tannins and structure. Notes of oak, spice as dark berry. The tension is my favorite part of this wine. Fine sediment, it is holding its own 28 years later!

This wine started-out very unbalanced. That may have my fault for not opening the wine soon enough. One of the most perplexing wines I have had. I am not sure why my experience was so different from the beginning to the end of the wine. My wife may have had too much influence on me, but she also grew to love it. Notes of cherry, spice and earth floor.

Sensational and very vibrant! Lots of life left. Great mouth feel, wonderful balance, beautifully aged, notes of cherry, spice and tobacco. Drinking perfectly now, with a medium finish. Gorgeous layers of red fruit, expansive on the mid-palate. Memorable wine. 94-95.
