On this night - with pasta and close friends - this Chianti from Monteraponi in the great 2016 vintage was simply perfect. I need say no more, except to express thanks to my friend GDP for recommending this estate to me a while back. Holding up effortlessly. Everything in place. If only half the Chiantis out there were half as good as this. No hurry but it is fabulous now at seven years.

Stellar wine from Monteraponi! The 2016 Annata bottling is still not as ready as the 2018 Annata nor as the 2018 Il Campitello bottling, but it is slowly approaching its drinking window. Far better than the Riserva wines of most producers! Bresaola, cherries, tobacco, violet. Juicy and dry at the same time, with soft, but omnipresent tannins and high acidity to balance the sour-sweet cherry and cranberry fruit. Long and complex. Better with food. Should be ready in a year …

Good solid traditional chianti. Cherry, blackberry, smoke. Nicely integrated complex in the mouth.

Well WTF so disappointing, similar to DJC...was this a Top 100 or some stupid rating to make me bet on buying 3 bottles? Decanted for nearly 2 hrs then served with chx parm w/pasta and it's pretty much a mess of a wine. The funky smells did blow off slowly, then wall of bitter dark choc, dry sour cherries and balsamic dominate the palate. Fruit is so dark/plummy and bitter it was tough to enjoy modestly w/o food on every …

Medium dark red. Seemed corked at first then maybe just funky. This blew off and left a nice spicy CC. Mostly earthy cherry flavours and a fairly soft finish.

A very good bottle. Clear medium red. Great earthy, spicy cherry, wet forest and plum nose. Dry earthy black cherry flavours and a nice dry finish. Will hold last bottle and Magnum. So much bottle variation.

While decanting I found there was about 2 ounces of solid material in the bottle. The nose was incredibly intense ripe, roasted fruit. Like an 03 CdP that was left by the furnace. Down the food disposal. Really careless bottling would be my guess.

To replace the damaged sludgy bottle. This was better but seems to have that over ripe Grenache thing in the nose. Very off putting. Now I admit the horrible nose of the damaged bottle could have affected my nose for the rest of the night.

Clear medium light red. The nose is medium intense, mostly spicy earthy black cherry notes. Dry spicy mushroom and cherry flavours and a very dry finish. Needs time.

Laid-back aromas and fruit intensity, with firm underlying structure. This leaned towards the savory and seemed to convey place more than other Chianti Classicos I've had. Definitely one to have with food.

This is the LN.04.18 lot but showing consistently with my last bottle. This is such a lovely, snappy wine. The mineral, herbal, dark fruit melange with that snap of leathery type notes is really satisfying. My stash is starting to run low and I'm going to be sad when it's gone. I missed the 2017 vintage but I can't forget to grab some 2018.

Dark red. Intense nose of dried cherries, dark berry, thyme and warm earth. Intensely dry cherry and herb flavours and a very dry tannic finish. The intense fruit and tannins make this a great candidate for cellaring in my opinion.

A bit too much balsamic vibe for my taste. Prefer more dust less vinegar.

Enjoyed this as a solid, textbook Chianti Classico for family dinner night, Farina take-out due to the covids shutting down dine in service. Xavier, PKnut, and Vulgar Little Monkey sum up the notes nicely. Price is a bit steep for what it delivers IMO ($35 / bottle, purchased at a Jujube wine dinner), bringing down the overall evaluation to a B+ (89) for me.

A great bottle, maybe the best yet. I have what looks to be 2 lots of this wine LN.02.18 (which this is) and LN.04.18 and have tried to make note of it. The palate was so silky and the wine was so generous in it's dark fruit and earthy, woodsy, leathery soul. This was one of those bottles where a 750 was not enough.

Liked this but didn’t love it with a Nose of balsamic, dark cherries, plum, dark floral and some spice, tangy palate, with integrated ripe tannins, medium acidity and good length

Consistent with previous bottles. Archetypal Radda Chianti for me. I love the earthy and savory elements to the fruit.

Consistent with previous bottles. This is our house Chianti for a reason.

Second bottle. There really is an elegance to the tannins that I haven’t come across in Chianti before. Gave the impression of some depth waiting to unfurl despite a pretty long decant, so maybe worth midterm cellaring.

Smooth palate with raspberry and other red fruits, but not distinctly Sangio/cherry, the palate is very smooth and to me, doesn't show the structure to age, but you could do much worse for a dinner party wine for your guests to enjoy. Which is precisely what our guests did, and we drained three bottles to great praise. Smooth, balanced, delicious and drink-me-now. UMichigan Communications event at Sopra. No degradation over night, this is still smooth and round and very approachable …

This is a fantastic everyday Chianti. Deep and nuanced with cherry and brooding violet notes. Although immensely powerful on the nose, it is relatively elegant on the palate with a distinctive enjoyable presence. I tried 30 Italian wines over the course of the evening and this was probably the most pleasing and I think it would be hard to find better put together Chianti at the price point.
