Very different experience to the two below. This bottle was perfectly developed and drinking wonderfully. Rich and layered without being overblown. Fruit and savouriness in balance. Quite burgundian. (93 Excellent wine)

Perhaps a little passed it. Nice flavour of an older wine, full but not heavy, though some pepperinesss.

Wine Team Dinner (Wellington, New Zealand) : Extremely light pinot noir that has past its peak. Simple fruit and oak handling. A disappointing showing for this excellent producer.

The wine had soaked right through the cork, which came out in one piece thankfully. Garnet colour. The nose has a slightly over mature twang. The palate is surprisingly fresh, even bright, dark cherry and only a hint of secondary flavours. Not great length, maybe not the best bottle ?

Keith's Blind Challenge Offline (The Square, London) : Blind. red. Faded pale garnet. Old wine sweetness on the nose and palate. Hard to describle but lovely at the start. it does fade somewhat though. Quite a high alcohol sense on the finish. Interesting but on the way down. Guess a burgundy. When Keith says it's new world it immediately reminds me of a 1990 mountadam that Peter brought to the NE offline in April. (*)**

With david in Riedel glasses - possibly the most successful NZ red I've tasted. Goes far beyond teh ordinary cherry aromas of PN. Classy ripe fruit with smokey gamey aromas adding complexity. Excellent acidity and very nice presence in the mouth - drunk at its peak - mature. (Oak not noticeable - well intergrated)

With red pepper pasta sauce = a good bottle - cherry fruit, smokey oak and some animal leather qualities.

Magnum Society (Wellington) : light ruby fading to pink - some age showing - cherry fruit - silky texture - light to medium body - good acidity - fruit seems less opulent then when tasted in March - fair length - won't last much longer. Bouquest became more powerful than the Mountadam PN 87 with exposure to air.
