Movia, Cabernet Sauvignon, Goriska Brda

Pop n pour. Quite a different wine than the one I tasted a year ago. Rich, almost opulent, the nose is thick with red berry jam, fig paste, currants, and toasty oak, Exceptionally well balanced, the purity of the fruit is remarkable. Fine-grained tannins, lively acidity and an above-average finish. Lovely, drink thru 2017.

Terrific wine of complexity, rich but not overly ripe (but slightly advanced?) fruit cassis and cherry, with surprisingly potent tannins and a long finish. Odd balance of "primary" fruit flavors but with with a distinctiven softness/advanced character.

Such a delicious and refreshing cabernet! I had tasted this particular wine with the winemaker (Ales makes quite an impression!) at a private industry luncheon. The wine was very impressive then (October 08) and it certainly has gotten better in the subsequent 9 months. A true medium bodied effort, this wine has above-average complexity and structure. Nothing overdone here and everything is in its place. Give it a 1-2 hour decant to allow for greater complexity.
