Number 2 for the night. Shiraz grenache blend. Deeper heavier tannins. Scrumptious fruit. Yummy.

Retailer tasting (Vianen) : Special bouquet with almost sun boiled fruits. Same on the palate. The wine is enormously concentrated and there is acidity, but imho it lacks a bit in freshness. This certainly is something special and possibly I have to learn to love it. Hope to taste again at a more relaxed moment. No score for today.

Dark, inky purple. Probably on the verge of being overripe - it's a bit wine that lacks a bit of freshnees but still very tasty. Raspberry, blackberry, blackcurrant, licorice, savoury meaty tannins. Just lacks a bit of finesse and follow through for a higher score. Enjoyable though with a bit juicy steak.

Bright Red color with scents of black currant and cedar. The taste of cherry, black currant, cedar, fleshy. It is a very nice full and heavy wine with a beautiful range of scents and flavors. Seems very much like a top-Rhône wine.

This one is approaching prime time but no need to rush. Black cherry, pepper, earth and damp wood with the black cherry definitely dominating. Still full bodied mouth coating texture. A touch of heat on the finish. Drink over the next five years or so.

Langton's Classification Tasting (Carraigeworks, Sydney) : Very tight nose and palate. Cranberry and cherry, smoke and spice. Palate has some rich fruit but there is good structure as well. Give it time.

Austrailian tasting. Plum color with brownish tinge. Spicy, and not too tannic. Still some nice fruit. it's a nice wine, but not a great wine, and that's what I expected based on both price and reputation.

Along with the '00 Grenache, this just fell a little short. Secondary characteristics of coffee and tobacco along with toasty vanilla and plum make up the nose. The palate is somewhat weak with some wild berries and spice. The finish is almost non-existent. I'm sure it was a great bottle in its youth, but seems to have fallen apart and become rather boring.

On the nose lots of blueberries. On the palate rich fruit with some acidity to balance things out. A very nice blend of syrah, grenache and Matara. Recommended!

Deep purple colour. Sweet nose with glycerin, blackberry jam, and smoke. Thick legs. Very tasty wine with layers of sweet dark fruit and a bit of cedar. Long dry finish. Will only improve in the cellar.
